Me too, but I wish I could specify that I only want it on while typing, not
while reading.

That's just it; if you turn it off for text, it also goes away when you're
typing, and it increases my typing accuracy immeasurably.

Speaking of noises, when you hear the more available chirp, How do then hear
the extra aailable info. For anyone not sure what noise I mean, press VO+H and
go down to the sounds help. In here you can hear all the different VO sounds
and what they are supposed to indicate.

I don't know, but my earlier question about hearing a double beep in a tweet is
the same one. I never knew what the sound was actually called, but that's the
sound I was talking about, and I'd love to know how to see the rest of the
text. More importatnly, why would an application do this at
I thought it might be the one you were talking about. It seems to be a VO thing
rather than an application thing. There is bound to some VO command to read the
rest of the text but I haven't gone looking for a while.

Press cmd+option+H to hide others in the app that's cutting off text. Then
press the zoom button, located to the left of the toolbar, and that should fix
the issue.

Hi, guys,
This is not specific to Mountain Lion; I noticed it in Snow Leopard and Lion as
well. Sometimes when I am typing in an edit field (I think both e-mail and on
the web, as well) sometimes I will hear a loud short noise -- it isn't the
spelling suggestion noise -- it almost sounds like

Does it sort of sound like half a duck's quack? If so, that's a misspelled,
word, noise from VO.

That would be the one I was wondering about. Does it do that in all
applications, or is it just on the Internet? I've misspelled plenty of words
but rarely hear it.
Thanks,

My understanding is that it is supposed to do it all the time if you have
turned it on and if the application supports it. However, it seems to be broken
in mail for some reason.

Are you sure you do not have caps lock on? That happened to me a few days

Those spelling typo quacks sounded like a good idea to me till I started

actually make a typo. grin. But I do agree, I've caught some things

how in the world did you turn it off?

It's in the vo utility, in verbosity sounds. Find the popup button for
misspelled words and select none.
