Apparently it's more than just hiding things. The vertical and horizontal sliders have to be positioned just right, or the Option-Up/Down Arrow keys don't work right. The horizontal position has to be at 100%, so saith a friend of mine who's quite Mac-savvy. On 1/12/2021 4:44 PM, John

I'm also interested in eliminating screen clutter for a partially sighted user, but yes, the shortcut keys are definitely the way to go for Mac Mail. For instance, while we don't care whether bookmarks are shown or not in Safari, they do take up some screen real-estate for sighted users.

Yes, this is correct. Also, one doesn’t need to concern themselves with the various bars and such. It’s like any Windows mail client. You only need to navigate the mailboxes and the message table, and this is done with simple keyboard commands. Again, like any screen reader, if you know the

I'm not a major Mac user. In particular, I don't use Safari or Mail. I prefer the user experience provided by other operating systems and screenreaders. However, last night I had to work on someone's Mac that was having email problems. I ironed out the problems, but along the way, discovered
