European keyboards have 79 keys whereas American-style keboards have 78. The Return key on a European keyboard is an oddly-shaped key that extends over two rows and is narrow at the bottom. The American Return key is two key-widths wide rather like the right shift key which is just below it.

Hi, On North American keyboards, the tilde is to the left of the number 1 in the number row. Like Julie mentioned, you would need to press shift to get it when typing. For the change window command though, cmd-accent will do fine. If your keyboard is still being uncooperative, use the
