Normal is relative :). European keyboards have a different layout than most
North American keyboards with respect to their special keys. The QWERty part
is the same
European keyboards have 79 keys whereas American-style keboards have 78. The
Return key on a European keyboard is an oddly-shaped key that extends over two
rows and is narrow at the bottom. The American Return key is two key-widths
wide rather like the right shift key which is just below it.

In Pages to switch between open documents I use command+accent which is
immediately to the right of left shift key. I never used command+tilde.

of number 1 is the accent, and in fact when I press shift plust
accent I got

the accent key so to get the Tilda you use shift

On North American keyboards, the tilde is to the left of the number 1 in the
number row. Like Julie mentioned, you would need to press shift to get it when
typing. For the change window command though, cmd-accent will do fine. If
