Excellent, VO A is just the ticket to read the progress.
I believe the download ticking is a Mac sound. I hear it on my wife's
MacBook and she does not use VoiceOver. I did confirm that my box for

Well I am a fairly new Mac user but I have done a little experimenting
with this ticking sound thing and this is what happens on my Macbook.
When I download a file I have to interact with the download list to
get the progress. If I interact a second time I am interacting with
the group

Hi Brett,
One of the things using a hotspot is good for is taking care of the
bug in Preview where you lose your place if you switch applications in
the middle of reading. This is annoying, because VoiceOver's losing
where you were seems to be a bug with the way focus is handled
The first question I have is related to the ticking sound one can hear
when VO is focussed on the progress indicator during a download.
Somehow the ticking has stopped on my Mac, and I like it, and I want
it back. I explored System Preferences Sounds, but don't see anything
relating to
Regarding the first question: Not sure how to get the ticking to
return. I've never actually heard ticking sounds for anything other
than the Apple Software Update progress - all other ones are quiet
with VO. Maybe I've inadvertantly turned it off, as I think
softwareupdate logs in under another
Hi,
There is a VO shortcut to read the currently focused item. I am a
teacher of VO so I should know it, ... But a teacher can't know
everything, ... Wink. Sometimes the students must teach the teachers.
Try looking in the VO help.
