Hi, May I offer an alternate method that works in ML but didn't work in Lion. In the old instructions after vo to the vertical splitter and routing mouse to it you do not have to perform the physical click (at least not I). I performed VO Shift space twice rapidly. VO announces collapsed. IF

Hello Max, To get rid of the Preview pane in Mail, position yourself on the horizontal splitter between the message headers and the body, bring the mouse (VO-Cmd-F5), then do a physical mouse click with the trackpad, mouse, or number 5 if you have Numpad Commander enabled. Cheers, Anne --
