Like you I had a look at the iOS app and it didn't work to well.

4 GB for Windows and a dual-core configuration should work acceptably well for

Apparently there is the possibility if you have a gMail account of getting
the Gmail based notes that are produced on the Macintosh running Yosemite

check if there is a Notes area in your Gmail account. If so enabling this

good speakers for iPhone

2015-11-15 Thread Jim Gatteys
Hi all!
I wonder if somebody can make a recommendation for good speakers for iPhone. I
need some volume and size does not matter. I need them to be powerful enough
to play for a pretty good sized room so am not looking for wireless or blue
tooth necessarily. I don't even know where to start looking there is so much
out there. I guess they'd need to have a built-in amplifier? Not sure if the
iPhone would be powerful enough.
Excuse my lack of knowledge but this is a new thing for me.
Thanks,
Jim

No, I have not looked at the Mac app. The iOS app doesn't seem to be too good.
So I am still using my old Windows machine for PDF reading.

Re: Spoken menus on Nano 5th gen

2015-11-15 Thread Esther
Hi Traci,

I'm not sure there is a good solution to your issue with Spoken menus on
the 5th generation Nano, but here are some things you can try. I suspect
the problem lies in the fact that iTunes only generates new, speakable
items when it thinks that your iTunes database has updated or changed. As
an experiment, try creating one or two new playlists to replace the
playlists that are not currently being spoken, then sync your device and
check whether the new playlists have spoken menu items. An easy way to do
this might be to use the shortcut for creating a new smart playlist,
Option+Command+n, and then change the first pop up button from "Artist" to
"Playlist" and then change the third pop up button from "Music" to the name
of one of the playlists that does not have a spoken menu. (Your smart
playlist rule will be " ".
That new smart playlist in the iTunes database might be enough of a change
to force iTunes to generate a speakable menu item for the entry.
Alternatively, you could go in and edit an existing regular playlist name
to be slightly different, then sync your nano, and check whether the
playlist with the edited name now has a spoken menu. I'd only try a test
of one or two playlists this way as a test. The problem may be that iTunes
has changed formats of entries in the iTunes music library database file
since the time the nanos with speakable menus were introduced, and although
the updates should correctly read all the old formatted entries, it may
make a difference in the effectiveness of recognizing database updates for
entries over time.

Hope the helps. Cheers,

Esther

As for telling the time, Vo-M, M, right arrow once is a reflex I’ve got.
Moreover it announces the time in the correct format, i.e. the one set in

Re: A decision about the Mac

2015-11-15 Thread Devin Prater
This is all good for morale, but my problem still stands. I'm taking this sick
Mac to the Apple store, maybe the people there have a USB installer media they
can pop in. At least then I'll have a computer, and not a slab of metal with
lots of ports and an Apple logo on top. At least it'll be a half-functioning
um, post-Jobs Macintosh Computer.

Why not just help on list so that the help could be more useful for other
people? That’s what we commonly do here. In this way, the help we give to
others can be seen by everyone. After all, someone else may also need the help

If you have any questions or

contacts are not synching

2015-11-15 Thread Raymond Foret Jr
Hi there.
!
A most peculiar problem. After restoring my Mac, I find that once I’ve signed
in to my iCloud just fine and selected all the services I want, (including
safari and contacts), everything seems to be synching except for my contacts.
Any idea why?

Sent from my Mac, The Only computer with full accessibility for the blind
built-in

Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray,

Still a very happy Comcast XFinity Voice Guidance, Mac, Verizon Wireless
iPhone6+ and Apple TV user!

I'd rather be able to help you on an individual basis. I don't want to feel
like I'm hijacking threads.

Hi Jim,
Check out the Sharkk Boombox. The Sharkk has two ks' in its name.
Mystic Access also has an audio tutorial on the Sharkk as well as an

Things are going well over here.

Thanks,
Jim
