Hi Sadam. This is Helga! How are you? I think you can turn on that settting of
Voiceover on Voiceover utilities under voices or speech settings if I'm not
mistaken! To go to voiceover utilities you need to press VO F8. Hope this
helps! I look forward in hearing from you soon. Thanks and God bless!

Starting VoiceOver from the login screen.

2016-04-14 Thread Sadam Ahmed
Hi all,

Got my new MacBook Air and in the process of getting it set up.

My question is how do I make VoiceOver speak at the login screen?

Not sure where it is under El Capitan.

Thanks for any answers.

Kindest regards,

Re: Download audible book on mac?

2016-04-14 Thread Christina C.
A little bit more info. I noticed there is a link near the book title called
quick look and that seemed to bring up more info including a link to rate the
book and a link that said download options. I tried that and the screen
refreshed and I heard voice Over say something about a tray. However, I went
exploring I seemed to be back on the main library page and I did not find any
download options and all appeared as it did before I clicked the quick look
link. :( I double checked my download folder and there is no book downloading.
:(

Thanks,
Christina

Re: Download audible book on mac?

2016-04-14 Thread Christina C.
I can’t find the download button, nor can I find the place to rate the books.
This is so strange. It’s been about a month or two since I last downloaded a
book using Safari on my Mac while in my audible library. However, in the past
there was always a table with lots of info including a place to rate the books
and a download button. I just can’t find it anywhere. I double checked I am at
audible.com/library. I am logged in. I can find the list of books I have
purchased, including my most recent purchase but i just can’t find the download
button. I can only find a play now which seems to do nothing. :(

Thanks for any help, I’m starting to panic as I need something to keep me
occupied during insomnia. :)

installing WXPython on os X 10.11

2016-04-14 Thread Carter Temm
Hi all,
I am having some issues with the installation of wxpython.
First of all, I tried to install the package with the GUI installer available
on their website, but that failed because it said nothing to install. This was
even after I changed the install apps from section of system preferences. That
aside, sudo install didn’t work either. I am stuck as far as where to go from
here. Can anyone help?
thanks

Re: web arkive files

2016-04-14 Thread Gary
To avoid this the person can save the web page as a PDF file, by entering the
menu and selecting: File, then selecting:Export as PDF. This will give you a
Save As dialog box, to save your file on your Mac.

Re: Download audible book on mac?

2016-04-14 Thread jeff `greene
Hi Christina,
Well go to your library on audible. I usually turn on quick-nav and
keep hitting the g key which eventually will speak the name of the
book. Underneath where audible wants you to rate the book there will
be a pop-up menu that says deliver to... Just above that will be the
download link. Its kinda touchy, sometimes I find it right away and
other times i have to go forward and back with vo+arrows to find it.
Hope this helps! Jeff

Download audible book on mac?

2016-04-14 Thread Christina C.
Hello,

I’m confused. I purchased an audible book on my mac with Safari, went to my
audible library to download it like I usually do. I can’t find the download
link. I switched between grid view and list view and I still can’t find it.
All I can find is a "listen now" and I click on it and as best I can figure
nothing happens. I need to download the book to put it on my stream.

Thanks for any help,
Christina

Re: Safari Verbosity Driving Me Bonkers Any Help How to get rid of

2016-04-14 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey thought of this after posting in case anyone else is monitoring. I did
notice in verbosity under custom there is now away to thankfully stop every
mail thread saying disclosure triangle as I believe if you click the control
box and set that one to low it goes away. So nice to not be hearing disclosure
triangle anymore. Now if we can just get rid of the one row added in Night Owl
and Mail.

Re: Performing a Search in a textedit Document

2016-04-14 Thread Alex Hall
I'd use vo-f instead. It does the same thing, but takes you directly to the
result with no need to find buttons or tab. If you need find and replace, this
won't work, but for just finding text, it's the easiest. Similar to Text Edit,
once you do a search, use vo-g or vo-shift-g to find the next or previous
occurrence of the search string.

Re: Safari Verbosity Driving Me Bonkers Any Help How to get rid of

You probably need to go in to the voice over utility and turn off the
speaking of hints.

Original message:

Hey all,

New to El Cap and the verbosity of browsing in safari is driving me
nuts. I have my verbosity turned to low and tried custom verbosity but
nothing I do gets rid of safari constantly saying when I am on a link
you are on a link inside of a cell. At times instead of reading the
link the stupid message you are on a link inside of a cell is read
instead absolutely destroying my productivity. Is there any way to get
rid of this? Another one is you are currently on text inside of cell.
That’s great I know that and do not need to be told this every time I
move some where in safari. This is awful.

I just received some marketing stuff from Apple in email about new watch models

different window dressing or do I need to buy a new watch with new hardware?

Re: Restoring from a Time Machine backup.

2016-04-14 Thread Kayaker
Hi,

Sorry, but this is absolutely wrong. Do not boot into the recovery partition on
a new Mac. This is the method for recovering the same machine not migrating to
a new one.

The first time you boot up your brand spanking new Mac, the instructions on
screen will walk you through the entire process. But basically, you will be
asked if you are moving from another Mac and will be prompted as to how you
want to move your data, one option will be from an external time machine
backup. Don’t worry, you can always do this later with the migration assistant
utility.

If you don’t have a lot of apps and data to move, consider doing this manually.
A new Mac is a great opportunity to create a clean install without migrating
the legacy preferences from prior versions.

Finally, this would be a good time to remind you of best practices. You should
always have two accounts on your Mac. One as your admin account and the second
as the one you use day to day. The day to day account should not have admin
rights on your Mac. This simple step is arguably the single most important step
you can take to ensure the security of your Mac.

Best,
—k
Faith doesn’t give you the answers, it merely stops you from asking the
questions.

Helga, once you type in your search term and press enter, your focus is in the
search window. You need to tab to the right and press the done button and you
will be placed back in the TextEdit document with the cursor placed on the word
that was found. Also, you can now use command G, or command shift G to find
the next and previous occurrences of the search term.

RE: Restoring from a Time Machine backup.

2016-04-14 Thread Simon Fogarty
Youcaninstall from a timemachine back up or if you have a thunderbolt cable or
the ability to connect your old machine to your new machine,
For older machines I use a firewire cable and then a firewire to thunderbolt
adaptor and then start your old machine up in to target disk mode, that's shut
it right off and then start it up while holding the key letter T down and it
will appear as basically an external drive on your new machine.
Then one of the setup screans is to migrate your data from another location
and then you can choose your other machine.

Hope that helps and makes sense.

Hi list,

I took the plunge and got myself the 11-inch MacBook Air.

It should arrive on Friday.

My question is what's the easiest way to transfer my info from my current
MacBook Pro?

Can I restore from my Time Machine external drive?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best wishes to all,

Safari Verbosity Driving Me Bonkers Any Help How to get rid of

2016-04-14 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all,

New to El Cap and the verbosity of browsing in safari is driving me nuts. I
have my verbosity turned to low and tried custom verbosity but nothing I do
gets rid of safari constantly saying when I am on a link you are on a link
inside of a cell. At times instead of reading the link the stupid message you
are on a link inside of a cell is read instead absolutely destroying my
productivity. Is there any way to get rid of this? Another one is you are
currently on text inside of cell. That’s great I know that and do not need to
be told this every time I move some where in safari. This is awful.
