garage band help

2018-01-22 Thread The wolf
Hello is there a way to have garage auto beat map a file and then adjust
the intire project to the tempo?
I have a couple of songs that  I want to remix and I need it auto beat
mapped and set up so the rest of the project eg loops samples match the
tempo of the song
not sure what this type of thing is called in garage band but can some
one tell me if this is possible?

thanks
Hank

TeamTalk 5 Mac accessibility: How to browse channels?

2018-01-22 Thread Joshua Tubbs
Hello everyone,

TT has come a long way since the days of “unknown” as it was all custom
controls.

I’m not sure how to effectively add servers without editing existing entries in
the list, but I do know that when I connect, I can modify things like the
sliders, something that was impossible before.

Is there a way to navigate the channel list? I can interact with “channel
list”, but if there’s a channel first in the list, VO arrows, unless pressing
quickly, won’t seem to move the VO curser.

Okay, so I set up the activity to ignore groups in Teamtalk. I still can’t set
up my key lock, however.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Accessible Thermostats

2018-01-22 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Janina,

I don't know HVAC. But in our current home, we have a new furnace installed
last summer. And it does seem to me that Nest doesn't interact with it as
accurately as it did with our older furnace. For instance, it seems to take
two hours to heat up our house, despite the fact that we have a heat pump.
That was not the case in our last house. I also agree with what others have
said about having sensors throughout the house. I notice that when I'm working
in my office on the second flor, the heat/air often goes off. this was not a
problem in our other house, because we had a thermostat on each floor.
Something to think about.
Cheers,
Donna

Heres how I deal with bulk mail on my mac.
I find the mail box table then build a vo item chooser and type in "bulk" and
it usually brings up about 3 bulk folders on my system.
I vo down the bulk folders in the VO item chooser and vo space on the folder
that has some new bulk emails in them.
then I navigate to the bulk folder and decide if they are truly bulk and delete
the messages.
Just repeat the vo item chooser step to find the next bulk folder and do the

When done I hit the key command";

this empties the mail trash and thats it!
as for the bulk and spam folder some one else can jump in with the exact

Re: Accessible Thermostats

2018-01-22 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Well, I can find no reference to IPv6 in any Google search I've tried.

Worst of all, it looks like the web location yourhome.honneywell.com is
important to these devices, and it shows no IPv6 support. So, Honeywell
is now off my list.

Even worse, it seems they've outsourced this web location, which raises
all kinds of security and privacy concerns.

host yourhome.honeywell.com
yourhome.honeywell.com is an alias for prod.yourhome.trafficmanager.net.
prod.yourhome.trafficmanager.net is an alias for
tcx-uswest-pubip-myaero.westus.cloudapp.azure.com.
tcx-uswest-pubip-myaero.westus.cloudapp.azure.com has address

IOS braille input question

2018-01-22 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

I'm doing some playing around with braille input. As I type, speech is
speaking both characters and words. That's a bit much. Is there some way to
make it just speak words? I looked under speech, verbosity, and braille
settings, but didn't see a way to change this.
Thanks,
Donna

Up/down arrow, without VO keys usually does the trick. But, if it's not

Like in the safari smart search field etc, when you press alt l. Or

when I press up and down arrows it doesn't read the new input.

Is there a vo key for this? I know space bar just dismisses it but
what else can we use?

Thanks.

Re: Accessible Thermostats

2018-01-22 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Mika:

Does your Nest give you multiple sensors to spread around your dwelling?
Or does it gage temperature only from the main unit?

I'd like to have a couple additional sensors spread around. So, I'm
wondering.

Re: Accessible Thermostats

2018-01-22 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
Hi, Donna:

Will do. I'll update after making my decision and installing. As I said,
though, I might go with Nest after all. I don't need temerature changes
as I work from home, and am rarely out.

I should probably add I didn't understand my hvac guy myself. But, what
I did understand from him is that hvac isn't just an on and off kind of
thing. Apparenetly there are multiple subsystemts to a modern hvac, and
managing them correctly is what Nest wasn't doing. He kept mentioning
something called the backup system, or maybe the backup pump.
Apparently, Nest isn't handling that subsystem right.

Anyone here know hvac at this level? I could understand how software
engineers might get something like this wrong. Sounds to me like they
would need some hvac experts on staff helping develop their apps--not
just good software engineers. Perhaps they haven't invested enough in
the hvac discipline side of their product?

Wouldn't be the first time! Look at the dumb way mpeg defined id3 data.
Sorry mpeg, everything in music isn't a stand-alone song!

so I got hey Siri set up and have to say I love it. But one thing, when I
sometime give an order, my phone dings once, sometimes twice before the command
is executed. Is there a reason why this sometimes happens?

Re: the sogga of the bricked iPhone X

2018-01-22 Thread aliFaisal
I have had my iPhone x now for a week, and I have to say, I haven’t encountered
the issues the original poster had mentioned. I have had no issues with the new
gestures but occasionally I have issues with the face ID not seeing my face,
but even so, the process is still reliable enough for me to use full time and
come to enjoy it.

2018-01-22 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
Glad you got things worked out Sarai.
I did the same with my Iphone Se but didn’t need to restore it from Itunes.
But its not fun when it happens.
Now i am an android user so i don’t have this problem anymore.
The only downside from this is that there’s no good watch around for the
android folks like me who wants to do swimming. And the android blind community
can be quite rough and anti apple which can annoy me sometimes as for me it
doesn’t matter what you’re using or not using.
As long as it works for you its ok.

How to use the autocomplete feature in Safari n and other apps

2018-01-22 Thread Oriol Gómez
Hi all!
Does anyone know how to properly use the autocomplete feature on mac?
Like in the safari smart search field etc, when you press alt l. Or
Skype's mentions or anything like that.
when I press up and down arrows it doesn't read the new input.

Is there a vo key for this? I know space bar just dismisses it but
what else can we use?

Thanks.

RE: Apple watch

2018-01-22 Thread Simon Fogarty
Yeah now running my watch with 100% volume to make sure I can hear things.

Either it’s messed up or my hearing is.

Which could be an option.

Shame about the loud music I keep hearing

A couple months? That's odd. Mine recovers by the next morning, if not the
night of the day I swim. It's really only a problem right after getting out of
the water, when trying to end the workout. A couple water locks and it's back
to a decent volume, albeit with an odd sound until things dry completely.

Hi alex,

Yeah I swum with my s2 watch on a couple of months back and since then the
sounds gone really quiet compaired to before the swim.

I’ve had to increase the volume to 100 percent to be able to hear it properly.

The volume is plenty loud for me, most of the time. The problem I run into is
after swimming or otherwise getting the device wet. At that point, it gets a
great deal quieter until it dries some. The water lock sound helps, but not as
much as you'd think. I've found that making a call on it, so that the speaker
has to play the sound of the phone ringing on the other end, does a good job of
clearing water.

It turns out that my watch is already at 100% in volume. Unfortunately, in a

pool area. I know a disability advocate who is headed to Apple headquarters in
California. I have brought this to her attention.

The two-finger double tap and hold, then slide, is the easiest method to adjust

sound volume you want to change, use the Watch app and go to Sounds and Haptics.
