external hard drive

I have a 2tb external hard drive connected to my Mac with a wire. last night I got a notification that it hadn't been ejected properly. it was still running so I checked all the connections and they're solid. my Mac doesn't see it any more. what might that mean? is the drive not functioning

I would choose everyone for starters. If you do Contacts, that would restrict access to only people in your Contacts. Once you choose Everyone, you should see your phone in the device list. Also, you’ll have to make sure Airdrop is available on your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Airdrop,
