Re: Accessing notifications

2022-06-12 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
For now I’m undecided. On the one hand, it’s easier now to just go on and do
whatever it was that you wanted to do in the first place. On the other, every
time you reopen your computer that stupid notification is just going to pop up
again, so you might as well just dismiss it the first time. And having to
press VO-N is just one extra step to do that. Not a huge deal, but still …
Cheers,
Donna

question about apple mail accounts.

2022-06-12 Thread Karen Lewellen

Hi folks,
My tony award goal is not quite that simple, ctv.ca requires a
subscription, with one of our homemates creating an account so they can
watch this as well.
because I want everything connected to my mac already, and they will be
emailing me a link I intend to create? an apple mail account, and am hope
this is still possible.

I have friends who use mac.com addresses and icloud.com ones as well.
so, can I still create a mac.com address, via the mail application on my
macbook pro?

Any risks in doing this?
I have zero interest in using gmail for this, and hope the apple mail
account will give me a central location for things etc.

Thoughts?

Re: Accessing notifications

2022-06-12 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
Yes, that’s also as I remember it.
The one situation that poses difficulties for me in Monterey is answering an
incoming Facetime call when the Mac is locked. It’s hard to reach the
notification in time after using touch ID to unlock the device. I don’t
remember whether I tried VO-N in that situation.

Re: Accessing notifications

2022-06-12 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It may have depended on the specific notification. Those persistent ones that
remain on the screen may have often been given automatic focus by VO, I can’t
recall. I do recall though that it was slightly different in Big Sur. I
actually prefer the Monterey style of doing things with notifications, but of
course, that’s a personal preference.

Re: information on a thumb drive

2022-06-12 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
You need to use command v to open the Computers window in the
Finder. Navigate to said USB drive and open the folder to view its contents.

Re: information on a thumb drive

2022-06-12 Thread Herbie Allen
I’ll preface this by saying someone who’s actually done this would know, but
did you do Command I on the actual label of the drive itself? If so, there
might be multiple categories at the top.

Actually, Brad, for me it is different. In Big Sur, the focus was
