Re: Further to earlier mail re playing audio content on my Mac
Hi Anne. Thanks for your offer of help but after three days banging my head, I've decided to turn the Mac off and walk away for a spell. I just seem to be making matters worse, left to my own devices. I've recently arranged one-to-one training from a blind Apple user who is employed by SITE Glasgow, but he will not be able to make an appointment for a week or so. He's only a young guy and fantastic with my Macbook. He made it look so easy, hahaha. I think I'll just have a break for a spell and perhaps get your help if it would not be any bother, later. I'll hold onto your message. You know Anne, this is a great list. I've had offers of help from Newzeland, America, London and now France. Howe's that! Very best wishes. Further to my question about playing external audio files on my Macbook
Hi all. Thanks to everyone who has written to offer me some help with this learning curve, of playing media files on my Macbook. Unfortunately, it seems that I have multiple issues going on at the moment and this is perhaps why I'm experiencing all these other problems with my Macbook. For you who have written to me, I've saved your messages and plan to be able to return to them after these other problems can be resolved. Perhaps my biggest problem is that I live on the West Coast of Scotland, some 55 miles north of Glasgow and my nearest VI tech guy. I cannot get him to visit my home, because he has a standard guide dog, whereas, I have a specially trained off-road guide dog that can cope with my rural environment as well as the streets of a busy Glasgow, so I'm obliged to make an appointment , visit him and secure his support and get help, before I can even think of playing media files. One of my initial problems is an announcement saying something like "This computer cannot connect to Cloud because of a problem with your btinternet.com account"! I've noticed this same message a couple of miles away in my local bar, though thought that it was simply attempting to connect with my Roughter in my house and I was 2 miles away. There is no way that I can even begin to sort this out so need to get that sorted before progressing to playing media files. So my next plan is to secure this help in the hope that my problems can be resolved away from my home. I did get all devices set up in Icloud months ago, so perhaps if the problems can be resolved on my Macbook, then my Imac will just pick these up. So for the meantime guys, I'll have to disappear for a while but I will keep your files and hopefully be able to have a go at playing media files on my Apple equipment later. . Thanks again for your patience and support. Very best wishes. Andy. >From Scotland with Love. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Re: Playing audio media on my Macbook
Hi again Anne. Please forgive me if I'm not quite with you at this moment. You say "If it doesn’t, press Cmd-comma to open Finder Preferences" I'm listening to a tutorial to Voice over by mr Jon Pan, who starts off by describing the mac keyboard layout and he is saying that from the bottom left, of a macbook for example, the keys are as follows: FN: function key; Control key, then followed by the Option key, then Command key, just before the spacebar. John does not talk about CMD. Obviously, you are referring to the VO keys, but surely it should be Control,Option and finally command! Or does CMD refer to keys 2,3 and 4 on the bottom left? If this is the case, then CMD plus comma is Control, option and command and whilst these are depressed, press the comma key? Sorry for appearing such an idiot, but I think I may have grasped the meaning of your keystroke. Am I correct and can I give it a go. Very best wishes. I also have a pair of boes Bluetooth headphones which are over the head They are bulkier than the earpods but again great sound and both Bluetooth and wired if needed. The apple earpods fit in to a little plastic box about 30mm * 40mm * 15mm and charge with a standard usb to lighting cable From: 'andy' via MacVisionaries [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] Sent: Wednesday, 28 February 2018 11:42 PM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: wi fi headphones for my Macbook Pro Hi all. Re: wi fi headphones for my Macbook Pro
Hi Alex. Thanks for all the information you have provided but ear-buds are not for me I'm thinking. I'd be afraid of loosing one of them and I don't wish to prevent friends in a pub from talking to me. My favourite headphones are Senhiezer, pardon the spelling, and they are about £55.00 but have a cable, but they are of a high quality and fold up into a pocket. I just thought that perhaps cable-less phones would be the way to go and I take your point about referring to them as £"Bluetooth" headphones. You've given me much to consider so thanks very much for your help. Very best wishes. Just so your interactions with sales people go more smoothly. As to which to buy, that depends on a number of factors. Apple's AirPods are quite popular, and will pair with your iPhone automatically. Once paired, you can use them on your Mac with no additional pairing needed. They sound good and don't even have a cable connecting the two earbuds, letting you keep them in a small case (which also charges them) in your pocket without fear of cables getting crimped or tangled. However, they don't block out ambient noise, and their onboard playback controls are very limited compared to others. There are tons of other options. Earbuds, over-ear headphones, and more, all bluetooth. Some block a lot of sound rather like earplugs, others don't. Some have a cords, others don't. Some have great playback controls, some have less, some have none. Some are $25, some are then times that. Honestly, the best thing to do is to look online for recent bluetooth earbuds reviews and find some you really like, always assuming you don't just go for the AirPods. Incidentally, rumor has it that new AirPods will be released this year, so if you want some, you might want to get a cheap pair of earbuds and wait to see if AirPods get updated. -- Alex Hall On Feb 28, 2018, at 05:41, 'andy' via MacVisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> wrote: Hi all.
