RE: attachments in mail on an iPhone

2023-09-13 Thread Mohammad Fazil
Lately, it has become a bit difficult to find attachment in an open message by
swiping. What I do, I explore the middle of the screen with finger and when my
tip touches it, voiceover says image and reads its text if there is any after a
little pause.
Thanks!

NVDA (Non-Visual Desktop Access) is a screen reader for Microsoft Windows that
is totally free, yet fully functional and portable; you can download it to your
PC or to portable media such as a USB stick. It was initially released in 2006
by NV Access founders Michael Curran and James Teh—blind computer programmers
who believe passionately in universal access to computers.

To install NVDA: Go to http://www.nvaccess.org/download/ . We encourage you to
donate if you can. If you can't, you can skip the donation and just download
the software.

NVDA shortcut keys

Note: Some keyboard shortcuts require using the NVDA modifier key. By default,
both the Numpad Insert key and the Extended Insert key are set as NVDA modifier
keys, but users can designate the Caps Lock key as an additional NVDA modifier
key. In the tables below, the assumption is that the Insert key is being used
as the NVDA modifier key. If you have changed your settings, you may need to
substitute the Caps Lock key in the place of the Insert key. Note also that
these keyboard shortcuts are for NVDA's desktop keyboard layout setting; some
shortcuts are different when using NVDA's laptop keyboard layout setting.

Browse and Focus Modes

Browse Mode: Browse mode is used when reading documents or web pages.

Focus Mode: Focus mode is used when the user enters a form or other fields that
require user input.

NVDA automatically switches between Browse and Focus modes, but the user can
toggle them using Insert + Space Bar.

Speech Viewer

Turn on Speech Viewer: Enabling Speech Viewer opens a window that shows
everything NVDA states. This is useful for sighted users learning NVDA for
testing purposes. Enable it under Tools in the NVDA menu.

Shift+up arrow or Shift+down arrow are not selecting any text for me.
Am I doing something wrong or these commands aren’t valid any more?

You need to be in an editable text area (e.g., text editor, text entry field).

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for Music Player?

Thanks much;! I asked Siri to download VLC Media Player from AppStore for me
and she did that. When I saw the results, Voiceover told me that I was on
collection and I should Interact with it. I interacted with collection and saw
the results. Several letters were together without spaces, thus, I could not
figure out some of the names. I tried to read by character with Quick Keys on

May I have direct link to VLC sent to me, please?

Re: Mute Speech With Keyboard?

2022-11-03 Thread Mohammad Fazil
I have done it successfully too! thanks to all who helped us.
Thanks!

On Nov 3, 2022, at 5:39 PM, 'Mary Ward' via MacVisionaries
 wrote:

I am creating that commander to mute speech as I write. This is a good review
for me, but if I say something wrong, I hope someone will set the record
straight.

Go to VO Utility, VO F8.
Find the categories table and navigate down to commanders. Once you have
opened commanders, you will first see numpad, which is selected by default.
Navigate to the right to keyboard and VO space on it.

Navigate past the Quick Nav commander to the checkbox that says enable keyboard
commander and make sure it is checked.
The next control is for the key you will use. I think that right option is the
default, but the other choices are left option key and both option keys. This
is a popup where you VO space, navigate to the choice you want, and VO space.
Which one you choose depends on whether you will ever need to use any of the
other keyboard commands that use the left option key.

After this you will find the table that contains all the keyboard commanders
that exist so far. The table contains two columns, one for the keystroke
itself on the left and the other for the command you want to perform with that
keystroke. To use the commander, you will type that keystroke along with the
modifier key you chose for the commander. For example, if you chose left and
right option keys, you would be able to press either option key plus the key
you have assigned. If you have never looked at this table, it would not hurt
to just examine it before you add the commander.

Beyond the table is the add button, which you will press to create the
commander.

Once you press the add button, you will see two columns. The first column
will be blank until you enter a keystroke for your new commander. The column
on the right is a menu button, where you will select the action you want the
commander to perform. This menu opens to the right, and the commands are
groups into a number of categories that are worth examining at some point. In
this example, you need the speech category, so you will arrow to the right and
locate this. Press VO space or enter, I believe either will work. If the key
you entered is already in use, you will be warned that the commander could not
be created and put back into the fields. The left column for the keystroke
will be blank, but the action you chose will still be in the right column, and
you can just write a new key for it.

This is one of those procedures that looks and sounds much more difficult than
it actually is. But doing some practice runs is still a very good idea. The
list of commands that can be chosen is quite extensive, and it might take a
while to feel oriented in this very long list. But first letter navigation can
be used once you know where to find things. Again, it is easy, but it is
better not to create the first one when you are in a big hurry.

Hope there are no mistakes in here.

I am taking the current iBugtoday class. It is almost like a college class, no
grading, but there are review questions and sessions. I don’t think either of
these are the ones you are asking about, but they are very good. I have heard
around that there is no Mac training for VoiceOver users, and I have not found
that to be true, especially not these days.

Re: Mac Classess On YouTube Last November?

No, he is not Mr. Panarese.
He announced the class schedule every week and conducted a live cession and
then put the video there. Mr Panarese also attended a couple cessions as guest.
Those classes continued for several weeks.

Command-one for Inbox?

2022-11-01 Thread Mohammad Fazil
Hi, Group.
I have three email accounts in Mac. I have read that Command+1 takes to Inbox.
My question is:
if I have three email-accounts, which Inbox Command-1 would take me to?
Thanks!

Battery Health in Mac?

2022-11-01 Thread Mohammad Fazil
Hi, Group.
Do we have battery health in Mac as we have in iPhone? If yes, how can I access
this in Mac, please?
One more thing: this is my first ever message to the group from Mac. I would
use mac again if this message is received successfully.
Thanks
