Alex, Your method only works for up to 1000 photos or the last month worth of taken photos. Photo Stream is only used for up to one months pictures and at that, only 1000 as a maximum. So Chris would only be able to sync the last 31 days worth of taken photos, and up to no more than 1000.

Ricardo, I don't think that this option came into being until Lion, this person has Snow Leopard, which didn't offer that feature. I'm not actually ssure what to do if you have forgoten your password. but, I imagine the only place to look would be System Preferences and Users accounts etc.
