2016-04-19 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
You can get 32 GB SD-HC cards very cheaply nowadays, in packs. You might just
pick up a pack of them, and simply spread your content over the cards for your
Stream. That’s a sure-fire way to make it work, and you don’t have to worry
about whether the particular card of a higher capacity might or might not work.

Still, nothing says proof like seeing it work, so, when you get the time, give
your new card another spin after formatting it fully with your Mac. I’m pretty
sure it will fail, but still, give it a try.

RE: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

Christina,

See if the sd card shows in disk utilities and then format it as a fat32
format if the content you are putting on it is a smaller file size than 4gig
then you shouldn't have an issue with your sd card.

Ok, I will try looking at it again now that I have a little bit of info from
you all. :) The SD C\card is not even showing up in Finder just as FYI. :)

The max the stream claims to handle is 64 GB. That is what size my card has and
the stream is having no problems with the card and telling me my capacity is 60
GB or something like that. :)

I am only having problems with it on my late 2011 Mac. I think it’s a
formatting issue but I haven’t figured out how to format this card. I will try
again in disk utility.

Are you able to see it in disk utilities?

If you can see it in disk utils then you should be able to format it or

Formatting the disc will cause me to lose the data. However, there is no date
on it really to lose. It is brand-new and I really have not done anything with
it. The stream populated it with some folders but that is it.

Next time I am on my mac, I will try it again.

track of.

I do not see why the Mac cannot format that card. It should not
matter if its HC or XC. I think you said you chose the initialize option
which did not work. What about ignore? That might then let you use Disk

2016-04-18 Thread E.T.

SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) max is 32.

SDXC (Secure Digital Extra Capacity) max is I think 128.

Christine,
If your card is 64 then its an SDXC card which Sabbahattin says is
not supported by the stream. So you are limited to SDHC which maxes out
at 32gigs.

Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-18 Thread David Chittenden
Each card reader has a maximum size card it can read. 32, 64, and 128 GB cards
all have completely different formatting. Thus, a card reader cannot work with
an SD card which has more memory than its maximum value.

Put another way, if the card reader cannot access the card, a newer card reader
is required.

Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-18 Thread E.T.
What was the card used with? Yes always use an adapter when using
microSD.

When in disk utility, are you seeing the card at all? The capacity
in Get Info will always be less than the card's stated capacity. The
difference is the space used when the card is formatted.

I inserted one I have and it was instantly recognized, was formatted
with MS DOS.

Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-18 Thread Jenine Stanley
Hi Gary, I think I found the cable. It came with an AC adapter that the USb
pplugs into. We’ll see if this is the right one.

Christine, do you have more than one of these cards? I ask because they can get
easily damaged when placed into the reader or adapter for the standard SD
cards. They scare me.

2016-04-18 Thread Christina C.
Gary, Did your mac recognize that you put a card in and could not read it, or
did it not even respond? Just curious if my computer is having trouble reading
the card due to formatting compatability issues or if my computer just cannot
read micro SD cards.

Thanks,

No, it’s the USB connector that connects to your Mac, and a smaller connection
that connects to your i.d. mate.

Is that the cable with the AC plug on one end and USB on the other? Please say
it is.

Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-18 Thread Christina C.
Do you know if those card slots on a late 2011 Mac support micro SD cards? I’m
afraid to try putting that little micro card in there to try it. So I used the
adapter that came with the micro SD card. I will try connecting my stream via
USB to see if the card can be read that way.

Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-18 Thread Jenine Stanley
I am having a similar issue with a micro SD card that is in my ID Mate. I need
to copy it but neither the MacBook Pro nor the iMac recognize it. Neither
machine even sees the ID Mate. The device does say that it’s connected via USB
and is charging though.

I have a very old card reader with a micro slot that I’m considering trying but
these things are so fragile I don’t want to break one of the little widgets

can't get mac to work with micro Sd card

2016-04-18 Thread Christina C.
Hi all,

I have a Mac and it has an SD card slot. I put the micro SD card inside the
adapter that came with it to make the micro card standard size. I put the
memory card in the slot and I get a message that says something like the card
you inserted cannot be read by this computer. I am then given a choice to
ignore, eject or initialize. I tried the initialize option thinking it would
give me a way to format the card. I believe disk utility opened. I could not
figure out anything past that. In the table i made sure and select the card and
then went to the main part of the window and I just got information about my
hard drive and not the card. The GB of memory did not match the card. I did
google how to format the card but It was not fruitful. I need to use this card
with my stream. I tried formatting the card with the stream but that didn’t
help. The stream can read the card but my Mac cannot. I am running latest
version of El Capitan.

Thanks,
Christina
