Hi brad,
Speaking personally, that really can depend on the nature of your hands.
Mine are rather small, meaning that I will absolutely end up using a
full-size external keyboard to avoid that very thing.
Managing those combinations with my fingers does not seem to work easily,

I love my Touch Bar. I use it as often as I can for as many things as I can. I
have the M1 MBP and it performs well with the Touch Bar.

I don't like the TouchBar either. That's why I traded my 2019 MacBook Pro for
one of the new 14 inch MacBook Pros.
Not only does the new 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pros no longer have a TouchBar,
the keyboard is vastly improved, and also has inverted-T arrow keys.

You can perform any VoiceOver command that uses F-keys, by holding down
I’m with you, Anders. I now have an M1 MacBook Air, and I don’t miss the Touch
Bar at all. It was an interesting concept, and I liked the way it was
contextualized. But overall I thought it was more cumbersome to use.

The TouchBar is really irrelevant, and not a problem for VoiceOver users.
You can perform any VoiceOver command that uses F-keys, by holding down the VO
modifier along with the Fn key, and then pressing a key on the NumberRow that
corresponds with the F-key for the desired VO command.
