Hi. If you're trying to adjust speech rate on the Mac, the command to adjust
speech attributes has changed. Now in addition to pressing VO+Command, the
shift key has to be added. So to change speech rate, press

Hi. How do I adjust the speech rate as I can no longer do this as the option
isn’t in the roster and how do I stop VO from telling me that something is miss

Hi, all,
So my system voice is quite a big slower than my content voice, and frankly, it
sounds like she's about to keel over and have a heart attack. I've looked in
VO prefs, but am not finding a way to change the speech rate. Anyone know if
you can do this?
TIA,

Since updating to Yosemite, I have two speech rates. I can change the speech
rate in menus and controls with the standard Command Shift Control, up and down
arrow combination.
However, when VO reads text, like what I am typing now, it is read at a faster
rate that I cannot, for the life of me
know about.

Hi, guys,
I've noticed that the speech rate for alerts in IChat is quite slow, even for
me. :) I'm wondering if there's a way to change it? I tried changing the rate
in text-to-speech preferences in System Preferences, but there is no change.
Thanks,
Teresa

Hi all!
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to speed up the speech rate in
mail? Using the VO hot quick keys, ctrl+opt+cmd and the arrow keys speeds up
speech for menus and ;the like, but does nothing for reading mail or typing
rates.
Thanks,

When I try to convert text to audio with my work flow, Alex speaks very slowly.
I have [[ra 350]] at the top of the document as I usually do, but this time it
doesn't seem to affect the voice speed at all, even though I have set Alex to
speak really fast under system preferences.

Sorry guys one more question.
How do you increase the speech rate in the RS games client?
It's speaking at a much slower rate then my normal settings.
Thanks,
Kari.

Hello list,
I've forgotten the command to set the speech rate in a text file that will be
processed by iTunes. I don't remember what the first line in the document
should have placed in it, to set the preferred speech rate. For example 350
words per minute?
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
The basic problem is that, for whatever reason, this action doesn't use the
system voice, and therefore it uses the default speed, which is awful.
The solution *I* came up with was to write my own service, and use the terminal
say command to create the track. But then, as I've often said
of the file,: [[rate 200]],
but you don't need the quotation marks. The number 200 can be any value you
want to set it at. The higher the number, the faster the speech rate. I hope
it works for you.

Just sent a file from

will change the speaking rate. Replace 600 with what ever value works for you.
The value is supposed to represent words per minute, but I don't think it
tracks that exactly. Just adjust to taste.
