UNFORTUNATELY I AM ONE WHO HAS A 17” MAC WHICH OFTEN RESTARTS WITH NO VO SPEAKING. I SHUT DOWN THROUGH THE MENU SYSTEM . BUT MAIL MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT RUNNING.. So far, I just shut down, , by holding dow the power button for about 5 seconds, then restart . and it works fine. Mark F > On Jun

For what it’s worth, I experience this occasionally as well. It always occurs after I wake the computer from sleep, and I find that VoiceOver is running, but muted. I am not sure what causes this problem but it is especially difficult to work around. To help, I’ve assigned the “mute VoiceOver”
