Thanks to all and to Sabahattin. The below instructions worked. So the problem
that I was having is that under the disk Utility I had the wrong disk selected
and that’s why the GB didn’t match my card. Thank goodness for the help here
and that I did not accidentally try to format the hard drive
Maybe a litt bit twist forward/backwards or to the left/right i.e. don’t push
the sd card to hard in, just stop when it stops or carefully give it a touch
backwoards.
Take care

You can get 32 GB SD-HC cards very cheaply nowadays, in packs. You might just
pick up a pack of them, and simply spread your content over the cards for your
Stream. That’s a sure-fire way to make it work, and you don’t have to worry
about whether the particular card of a higher capacity might

it. The stream populated it with some folders but that is it.

Numbers, its all in the numbers and really, they can be hard to keep
track of.
I do not see why the Mac cannot format that card. It should not
matter if its HC or XC. I think you said you chose the initialize option
which did not work. What about ignore? That might then let you use Disk
Was curious and looked at the specs for what they call the new
generation. It supports a max of 32gigs.
SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) max is 32.
SDXC (Secure Digital Extra Capacity) max is I think 128.

OK, I went and looked at Humanware’s documentation on the stream second
generation and the stream only supports up to 32 GB. That is so weird that I
remember it being 64. Did they downgrade that or something. The reason I
remember is because I have a 32 GB and I remember reading 64 and that I

I think you are onto something. I did not even realize XC existed. So, It’s
highly possible that I purchased an incompatible card. I don’t even know if the
stream supports the SD XC cards. Since I didn’t realize there was a such thing
as XC I must have heard what I wanted when I
Christine,
If your card is 64 then its an SDXC card which Sabbahattin says is
not supported by the stream. So you are limited to SDHC which maxes out
at 32gigs.

Good luck Christina. Here’s hoping something works.
I just got my iMac to recognize the Quest ID Mate. Yep, it does *require* its
original USB cable. I am not even going to ask.

Ok, I will try looking at it again now that I have a little bit of info from
you all. :) The SD C\card is not even showing up in Finder just as FYI. :)
The max the stream claims to handle is 64 GB. That is what size my card has and
the stream is having no problems with the card and telling me
Is that the size of your MicroSD card? Disk Utility will identify
the drive so you should not have any doubt. You also can eject the card
and if it disappears from the table you have the right one.

The Stream doesn’t handle XC cards. 32 GB is already the maximum. I think
that’s your issue. I can imagine that the stream formats it fine (using NTFS,
incidentally, which makes it useless for Macs) but you’ll only be using some of
the capacity. Select the card in Disk Utility to see what
Right, I did know the memory would show a little bit less but what is showing

to mess up my hard drive. I’m not really sure what I’m
Each card reader has a maximum size card it can read. 32, 64, and 128 GB cards
all have completely different formatting. Thus, a card reader cannot work with
an SD card which has more memory than its maximum value.
Put another way, if the card reader cannot access the card, a newer card reader
What was the card used with? Yes always use an adapter when using
microSD.
When in disk utility, are you seeing the card at all? The capacity
in Get Info will always be less than the card's stated capacity. The
difference is the space used when the card is formatted.

My apologies for nto being very clear on my last message. Yes, I connected my

Darnit. I have a 32 GB that I have been using for years, I wanted to upgrade to
a larger capacity for my stream since I am constantly having to delete stuff to
make more room. Thanks for helping out.

Christine, do you have more than one of these cards? I ask because they can get
easily damaged when placed into the reader or adapter for the standard SD
cards. They

No, it’s the USB connector that connects to your Mac, and a smaller connection
that connects to your i.d. mate.

Yep, Bob and I were on the phone for a while the other day. I forgot to say
that I wasn’t using the cable that came with it.
Now I’ll have to try this one and see if it works.

Do you know if those card slots on a late 2011 Mac support micro SD cards? I’m
afraid to try putting that little micro card in there to try it. So I used the
adapter that came with the micro SD card. I will try connecting my stream via
USB to see if the card can be read that way.

I had the same problem with the i.d. mate, as well. The way I was able to get
around the problem, was to connect the i.d. mate to my Mac with the USB cable
that came with my Quest. I don’t know if this will work for the Stream.

I am having a similar issue with a micro SD card that is in my ID Mate. I need
to copy it but neither the MacBook Pro nor the iMac recognize it. Neither
machine even sees the ID Mate. The device does say that it’s connected via USB
