Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card
You can get 32 GB SD-HC cards very cheaply nowadays, in packs. You might just pick up a pack of them, and simply spread your content over the cards for your Stream. That’s a sure-fire way to make it work, and you don’t have to worry about whether the particular card of a higher capacity might or might not work. Still, nothing says proof like seeing it work, so, when you get the time, give your new card another spin after formatting it fully with your Mac. I’m pretty sure it will fail, but still, give it a try. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Christina, See if the sd card shows in disk utilities and then format it as a fat32 format if the content you are putting on it is a smaller file size than 4gig then you shouldn't have an issue with your sd card. -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Christina C. Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card
OK, I went and looked at Humanware’s documentation on the stream second generation and the stream only supports up to 32 GB. That is so weird that I remember it being 64. Did they downgrade that or something. The reason I remember is because I have a 32 GB and I remember reading 64 and that I could upgrade my card. I waited a very long time though. :) All I know is that somehow I got it all wrong. :( Either way, Stream or not, shouldn’t my Mac work with this card? Oh well, It’s a lost cause at this point I guess. Thanks for all the kind help,Christina -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card
> Sabahattin, I think you are onto something. I did not even realize XC existed. So, It’s highly possible that I purchased an incompatible card. I don’t even know if the stream supports the SD XC cards. Since I didn’t realize there was a such thing as XC I must have heard what I wanted when I placed the order. This is the card that I purchased from Amazon. :( I wonder what I will use this card for now. :( I added the link to the card that I purchased. I don’t know what you mean about partitioning. Are you thinking I should just get a different card for my mac and stream? I know for a fact that the stream second generation does claim it supports 64 GB but I guess I just purchased the wrong kind of card. Maybe I should get a 64 GB SD HC instead of XC? http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Micro-Memory-SR64UY2A-TQ/dp/B00X1404E4?ie=UTF8_=cm_sw_r_em_awd_c_CoufxbQPT6V89 > Christina > On Apr 18, 2016, at 2:07 PM, Sabahattin Gucukogluwrote: > > The Stream doesn’t handle XC cards. 32 GB is already the maximum. Christine, If your card is 64 then its an SDXC card which Sabbahattin says is not supported by the stream. So you are limited to SDHC which maxes out at 32gigs. The Stream doesn’t handle XC cards. 32 GB is already the maximum. I think that’s your issue. I can imagine that the stream formats it fine (using NTFS, incidentally, which makes it useless for Macs) but you’ll only be using some of the capacity. Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card
Each card reader has a maximum size card it can read. 32, 64, and 128 GB cards all have completely different formatting. Thus, a card reader cannot work with an SD card which has more memory than its maximum value. Put another way, if the card reader cannot access the card, a newer card reader is required. Hi Gary, I think I found the cable. It came with an AC adapter that the USb pplugs into. We’ll see if this is the right one. Christine, do you have more than one of these cards? No, it’s the USB connector that connects to your Mac, and a smaller connection that connects to your i.d. mate. Re: can't get mac to work with micro Sd card
I am having a similar issue with a micro SD card that is in my ID Mate. I need to copy it but neither the MacBook Pro nor the iMac recognize it. Neither machine even sees the ID Mate. The device does say that it’s connected via USB and is charging though. I have a very old card reader with a micro slot that I’m considering trying but these things are so fragile I don’t want to break one of the little widgets used to lock the card. can't get mac to work with micro Sd card
Hi all, I have a Mac and it has an SD card slot. I put the micro SD card inside the adapter that came with it to make the micro card standard size. I put the memory card in the slot and I get a message that says something like the card you inserted cannot be read by this computer. I am then given a choice to ignore, eject or initialize. I tried the initialize option thinking it would give me a way to format the card. I believe disk utility opened. I could not figure out anything past that. In the table i made sure and select the card and then went to the main part of the window and I just got information about my hard drive and not the card. The GB of memory did not match the card. I did google how to format the card but It was not fruitful. I need to use this card with my stream. I tried formatting the card with the stream but that didn’t help. The stream can read the card but my Mac cannot. I am running latest version of El Capitan. Thanks, Christina -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
