Re: Amazon or Hulu on Apple TV?

2019-06-10 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Mary,

I've actually spent some time googling who has more of the shows we like. It's
pretty much a toss-up each has one or two programs that the other doesn't, but
many of the shows we would watch are on both. Weighing in in favor of Prime of
course is all the other stuff you get as a Prime member. So for now, I'm
leaning that direction. I just thought I would check here first to see if
there were any known accessibility issues with either of them. thanks for your
input.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi Donna,

I have prime membership but don't use it a lot,
The other I've never heard of.

When I have used prime it's worked ok for me.

Re: Amazon or Hulu on Apple TV?

2019-06-09 Thread Mary Otten
Hi ‘Donna,
Well, I’m pretty sure Prime and Hulu offer free trials. So perhaps the best way
to go is to sign up for both and see who’s programming you might like the best.
I would be shocked if Prime wasn’t fully accessible. I’m not entirely sure
about Hulu, and Prime does have more original programming also more described
program. They do have some older shows. Hulu probably has more older shows.

Hi Donna,
Well, since prime is free assuming you are a prime member, that would be a no
brainer. I mean, it won’t cost you anything. Somewhere, I think I heard that
the prime app is self voicing. That might not be true anymore, or I might
simply be misremembering. I hope it isn’t self voicing, because my experience
with self voicing apps on the Amazon platform, Netflix for instance, is not a
happy one. Unless you know of specific things on Hulu that you want to watch,
and you only want one service, I’d go with a freebie.

Re: Amazon or Hulu on Apple TV?

2019-06-09 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Donna,
What do you mean when you say you will be adding Amazon? The only Amazon thing
I am aware of is Amazon prime. There’s a lot of free stuff in there for prime
members, and there is a good bit of audio described stuff within that. Hulu has
just started having audio description. I think they only have a couple of
things. But I’m unsure about what you can “subscribe to“ with Amazon as a
non-prime member. I really can’t comment on the accessibility of the actual
apps on the Apple TV, because I use my Fire TV for Amazon prime, where it is of
course, very accessible.

Amazon or Hulu on Apple TV?

2019-06-09 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

We're thinking about adding a second streaming service--we currently just have
Netflix. We're debating between Amazon and Hulu. Just wondering if there are
any accessibility issues I should be aware of. We'll be watching on a 4th Gen
Apple TV.
TIA,
Donna

Hulu now has something like four audio described shows. They just
started doing it. The best place to follow audio description things is
on the American Council of the blind sight for such things. At this
time, Netflix has way more audio described things than Hulu, which up
until just this month, had none. On the other hand, depending on what
you want, Hulu has a lot of shows that Netflix has lost recently,
although they are not audio described. Who was also less expensive, if
you’re willing to deal with ads.

I have Net flicks. There are both audio descriptions of movies and tv shows.
The current price for premium is under $20 per month. I have no personal

Hi, Just hold off for now! The one I purchased was streaming plus and
it was $9.99. Every time I bring it up I can't log into hulu. I log
into hulu fine from safari. I've sent an email to the developer (there
is a link to do so in the help menu), and am waiting to hear back.

Hi,
I wasn’t aware there was a Hulu app for the mac? If it’s accessible, I will
have to try it out. I was mainly talking about for IOS.
It’s interesting that you said the website was accessible. In my experience,
this wasn’t the case at all. It seemed disorganized, adjusting playback is
impossible, or at least I couldn’t find a way, and the entire thing just seemed
cluttered.
I am going to have to try the Hulu app for the mac. Is it available in the mac

Hulu, accessibility on both th phone iPad and APPLE Tv.

2018-03-13 Thread Timothy Emmons

Sent from my iPhoneHi guys, I have a curious accessibility question I need some
assistance with. I just started, or I shoud a, my family and I just go id of
cable and ae uing Hulu, Neflix, ime, and oomarang for our cable services, and
are pretty excited about it. However, I have some questions and a few issues.
Hulu, for instance. I noticed I can't seem to navigate it on the IPhone 7 plus,
or the IPad Mini. Are there some tricks that work with making it accessible
with voiceover? Is it accessible on the Apple Tv 4th Gen? Also, Boomarang seems
to have the same interface. Is there any suggestions you can give me on
that?Ne!flix is great, and so is
prime, but Hulu is my bump in the road as it were. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks for any help you can give. Take care.

Differences between Netflix and Hulu plus: opinions?

2014-12-26 Thread Ray Foret Jr
Subject line just about says it all. I'm contemplating Netflix and Hulu plus
for 2015, however, I am unaware of most of the differences. Well I'm sure I
could look up most of the common differences online, what are very particularly
want to know, is with respect to the accessibility of both services as relates
to Apple TV.

With respect to accessibility, therefore, which is better: Hulu plus, or
Netflix? I imagine that there will be some differences, but, I really don't
know for sure. They both seem to be priced the same per month: $7.95, however,
I would like to know what other thoughts of you buddy may have asked of the
differences between the two services.

Sincerely,
The Constantly barefooted Ray,

Both services are accessible on the Apple TV. We have accounts for both. My
husband uses them. I have lately started using both, and they are both fully
accessible so far as I can tell. Netflix on iOS, I do not find accessible at

My husband uses them. I have lately started using both, and they are
both fully accessible so far as I can tell. Netflix on iOS, I do not
find accessible at all. Or I should say very limited. Very frustrating.
It used to work better, with a workaround. But these days, I can't get
it to work for love or money.

Both are completely accessible. I think Hulu has newer content; however they
have advertisements that you cannot skip over. Netflix does not.

Re: Differences between Netflix and Hulu plus: opinions?

2014-12-26 Thread Christine Grassman
I do not have Apple TV; someone got us Roku last year, which as far as I can
tell, is inaccessible, unless someone can tell me differently. My legally blind
husband can use it, but I cannot.
As far as on the iPhone, I find Hulu slightly more accessible than Netflix, but
not by much, but Hulu has better content for what I am interested in. I find
Netflix’ streaming content quite limited.

I use both as one has content that the other one does not. From a mac point of
view of navigating the pages, both are pretty accessible though I prefer using
Netflics.

Hulu Plus Frustrations

2013-03-25 Thread Christine Grassman
Good day all. I have had no difficulty using the Hulu Plus app on my iPhone 5.
However, despite receiving the message now playing when I select something on
the Mac, nothing is showing. I am not receiving any sort of message about
Flash, though this is the only explanation I can think of why it is not
working. If anyone is successfully playing Hulu Plus content on his or her
Macbook, could you please let me know what I might do to view content on the
Mac? Thank you.
