Re: Speed test comparison between Google Pixel and iPhone 7+

2016-10-23 Thread David Chittenden
The Pixel phone is designed to work all over the world. Google has set it up to
work with their forthcoming Fi network. They will be charging $10 per GB of
data, which they round to the nearest MB, and credit back the money for the
data not used. They also state the $10 per GB is active in over 135 countries.
Their basic plan is $20 per month for unlimited calls and text through the US.
Calls outside the US start at $.02 per minute. Roaming outside the US is $0.20
per minute for voice calls.

On the low end, the costs look pretty good. On the higher end, the costs for
data look expensive. Also, Fi only works with Pixel phones and Nexus 5 and
Nexus 6 phones, according to the Google web site.

I’m not sure the phone is built to work anywhere in the world. Verizon is the
only US carrier that sells it in their stores but places like Best Buy in the
US carry it. I think it’s for global consumption.

This is true. Apple just hired a professor of AI from CMU to catch them up.

Re: Speed test comparison between Google Pixel and iPhone 7+

2016-10-21 Thread Scott Granados
Mary, agreed, the Pixels though I believe have 4 GB of program memory so that
should be a pretty close comparison. I doubt anything in that test used up 3
gigs. I believe the two phones were selected because their hardware was
similarly configured and the number of pixels on the screen were the same. Both
were run in 1080P so no one phone was unfairly taxed on the graphics side.

I’m sure we can find a test matchup with the devices you mention though.

Re: Speed test comparison between Google Pixel and iPhone 7+

2016-10-21 Thread Mary Otten
I wonder what the difference might have been had they used an iPhone 7 and set
up a plus against the pixel. It has less ram. Would that of made any
difference? Same chip, so maybe not. It seems like four things that matter to
us, that is not games, they're pretty close. The pixel even did a little better
and somethings. So if you're not doing heavy lifting like games, or other
things that really tax the chip, it may be a draw or close to one.
