If there is a menu item that you use frequently that does not have a keyboard shortcut you can easily assign one in system preferences, in the shortcuts area. You do need to spell the shortcut exactly like it is in the menu in order for it to work, but this should be fairly easy with VoiceOVer.

Hi Anne, Command + Shift + W is indicated on the View menu to be the shortcut key, VO actually say "Show Word count," but nothing happens. However, when going threw view menu or View menu on the tool bar, the popup shows up with the info I wanted. I think I will get there in the end. Warm
