Re: Help with Pages

2016-10-17 Thread Jonathan Cohn
If there is a menu item that you use frequently that does not have a
keyboard shortcut you can easily assign one in system preferences, in the
shortcuts area. You do need to spell the shortcut exactly like it is in the
menu in order for it to work, but this should be fairly easy with VoiceOVer.

1. Go to the menu you want a shortcut for.
2. Hit vo-shift-C to get the last phrase spoken into the clipboard.
3. Escape out of the menu
4. Go to system preferences / Keyboard / shortcuts
5. Find applications in the first table
6. add a new shortcut and paste the text you cut in earlier steps.
7. Assign a shortcut to cause that function to occur.

There are also places in the system settings to assign keyboard shortcuts
to services that show up in the contextual menu.

Re: Help with Pages

2016-10-13 Thread Brandt Steenkamp
Hi Anne,

Command + Shift + W is indicated on the View menu to be the shortcut key, VO
actually say "Show Word count," but nothing happens. However, when going threw
view menu or View menu on the tool bar, the popup shows up with the info I
wanted.

I think I will get there in the end.

Warm regards,

Brandt Steenkamp

Re: Help with Pages

2016-10-13 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Brandt,

There is no shortcut provided for word count in Pages, but it is in the View
menu. When it is shown, you stop interacting with the layout area and do
VO-Right Arrow to find it. It’s a popup button with various options.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Help with Pages + Training Resources for Apple products.

2011-06-24 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Joshua,

I can't help with training resources, but the foreign sounding text in the
templates in Pages is a kind of dog latin used to fill up the text areas. As
soon as you start overtyping one of these areas, the strange text disappears to
be replaced by your own.

I haven't had much luck working with templates, but then again, I haven't spent
much time on them either.

Cheers,

Anne
