Re: basic finder question

2022-06-27 Thread dan d.

Yes, the standard vo + key commands work fine. For example, vo + a from
current position to end of screen. Interact with text when in
terminal works best. There are screen readers meant for terminal such as
speakup; and a google will find them. Here are two I know nothing
about but work in terminal:

Re: Using the terminal (was Re: basic finder question)

2022-06-26 Thread Karen Lewellen
Honestly, I cannot imagine why I would want to do that, I have, and intend
to keep my shell service account.
It seems like an interesting tool, tab completion, but for me personally
I am a better housekeeper than to need the computer to tell me what files
are there.

Thanks for the explanation though.

Yes, the terminal is treated as just another application so far as VoiceOver is
concerned.

I am not even sure what tab completion means in general, I do not personally
use the tab key much outside of word processing.

It???s a feature of the shell that completes partially typed commands and file
names. For example, if you had a directory named ???documents??? and you typed
???do???, then pressed the tab key, it would complete the rest of the name -
assuming that there are no other names beginning with ???do???. Typically,
pressing the tab key twice gives you a list of names that match.

When you are in the Finder and the folder you want, you can copy the file with
[command] + [c].

Then, move to the folder you want to put the file in and issue the following
command:

[command] + [option] + [v]

This moves the file from he first location to the second.

Re: basic finder question

2022-06-22 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi Andrew,

I’m sorry to hear you are getting blind. Ask as much as you want here in this
list. A lot of great experts share their knowledge. You could also have a look
on applevis.com . Very rich.

Press CMD + Option + v instead of just CMD + v to move an element in the Finder.

Scrivener for Mac is also a great tool which is quite accessible to VoiceOver.
Unfortunately Word isn’t as accessible as it could be. In this point I’m very
disappointed from Microsoft. They could really do better.

All the best
Jürgen

Re: basic finder question

2022-06-22 Thread Greg Wocher
Hello,
When you go to do the paste command use option plus command plus V instead of
just command plus V. This will move the file rather than just copying it.
