Re: bluetooth speaker with the mac

2016-12-04 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

It's entirely possible that the updater app for the original Bose Mini acts
different than the Mini II app. To use the Mini II updater, do the following:
• plug the Bose Mini II into your Mac via the USB cable. So, one end in your
Mac and the other in the base unit of the Mini II.
• download the app from Bose.
• place it in your Applications folder.
• open it.
• press VO-m-m to go to the Menu Extras.
• navigate to the Bose Updater menu item.
• press VO-cmd-f5 to bring mouse focus to the VO cursor.
• press VO-shift-space to open the menu item.
• choose Launch Bose Updater Web page.
• follow the prompts on the page.

If there's an update to the firmware, it will be displayed on the page and you
can press on the "Apply Changes" button. If your firmware is up to date, then
it will be displayed as such and the "Apply Changes" button will be dimmed.

It looks like the updater for the original Mini is different, so it's process
may not be as accessible, I'm not sure. My sister-in-law has the original and
likely hasn't ever done an update. Maybe over the Christmas break, I'll see
what I can do with her unit, if she lets me play.

the centre will pause then start, double-pressing the centre will skip forward
one song and triple-pressing the centre will skip back either to the beginning
of the current song or back one song depending on the current location within
the song. this unit also can act as a hands-free in that if your paired with
an iPhone, or your Mac, and a call comes in, you can press once on the centre
button to accept the call through the Bose Mini. The bluetooth button allows
you to cycle through previously paired devices, up to eight.

When you turn on the power, the Bose Mini II should announce the current
battery level. If yours is not announcing, then there is something that can be
done to turn this feature back on.

Hello,
After doing some researching, I have found that this is a problem that
apparently affects Bose specifically. According to the forum topic on their
website, one needs to update some sort of driver in order to make this work.
Unfortunately, the update software is completely inaccessible so looks like I
will be needing to ask someone sighted to assist me with it. That is quite a
lot of trouble and hassle considering how expensive this speaker was.

Hello,
I managed to get it paired and it is working [somehow]. However, I noticed a
different issue pertaining to music playback. the music in iTunes is quite low
and is disproportionate to voiceover. Any ideas how this can be resolved? I am
pretty new at this bluetooth stuff so I apologize for my ineptness.
And also to further clarify, I have the sound link many.

Re: bluetooth speaker with the mac

2016-12-02 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

That is normal behaviour for the VO sound to come out of the internal speakers
and the music and such to be routed to the Bluetooth speaker. Most of the
time, I much prefer it this way as I can do VO things and have the music going
on the side. It also makes it nicer for adjusting different volume levels for
the music vs VO. I believe that if you wish to route the VO sound through the
Bluetooth speaker as well, you'd do this in the VO Utility under the Sound pane.

Regarding the buttons on the SoundLink II, sorry, I can't help, I only have the
Mini SoundLink II.

2016-12-02 Thread aliFaisal
Hello,
After doing some researching, I have found that this is a problem that
apparently affects Bose specifically.
