Re: bluetooth speaker with the mac
Hi, It's entirely possible that the updater app for the original Bose Mini acts different than the Mini II app. To use the Mini II updater, do the following: • plug the Bose Mini II into your Mac via the USB cable. So, one end in your Mac and the other in the base unit of the Mini II. • download the app from Bose. • place it in your Applications folder. • open it. • press VO-m-m to go to the Menu Extras. • navigate to the Bose Updater menu item. • press VO-cmd-f5 to bring mouse focus to the VO cursor. • press VO-shift-space to open the menu item. • choose Launch Bose Updater Web page. • follow the prompts on the page. If there's an update to the firmware, it will be displayed on the page and you can press on the "Apply Changes" button. If your firmware is up to date, then it will be displayed as such and the "Apply Changes" button will be dimmed. It looks like the updater for the original Mini is different, so it's process may not be as accessible, I'm not sure. My sister-in-law has the original and likely hasn't ever done an update. Maybe over the Christmas break, I'll see what I can do with her unit, if she lets me play. Later... It's awful because a couple of years ago, I had written to Bose about accessibility of their update software. They obviously consider blind people as no market so they won't do anything about that. Re: bluetooth speaker with the mac
Hi, That is normal behaviour for the VO sound to come out of the internal speakers and the music and such to be routed to the Bluetooth speaker. Most of the time, I much prefer it this way as I can do VO things and have the music going on the side. It also makes it nicer for adjusting different volume levels for the music vs VO. I believe that if you wish to route the VO sound through the Bluetooth speaker as well, you'd do this in the VO Utility under the Sound pane. Regarding the buttons on the SoundLink II, sorry, I can't help, I only have the Mini SoundLink II. Later... Re: bluetooth speaker with the mac
Hello, After doing some researching, I have found that this is a problem that apparently affects Bose specifically. According to the forum topic on their website, one needs to update some sort of driver in order to make this work. Unfortunately, the update software is completely inaccessible so looks like I will be needing to ask someone sighted to assist me with it. That is quite a lot of trouble and hassle considering how expensive this speaker was. > On Dec 2, 2016, at 1:36 AM, David Chittenden wrote: > > Hello, > > It has been a couple years since I have done something like that, so my > memory is quite probably flawed.
