No but it is on his iPad, he would use Safari on the iPad side for the sharing
process.

Scott,

Yeah possibly but it will come down to what form of lock down the sys admins
have on the notebook,

As for safari, not an option on a windows 7 based machine

Hi,

Yes, once I receive my local access laptop, I will find a way to easily
transfer documents between the iPad and the laptop. Email will definitely work.
However, I will first try Microsoft One Drive. It will depend on the
permissions desktop support gives me on the laptop. At the very least, they
will allow me to install the screen reader. My question is JFW or NVDA. That
will depend on how well NVDA can access our specialised programs. I would

The desktop must be bloody under powered if they can’t support jaws,

Sounds like they are a form of dumb terminal.
Mind you if they use citrix like we do then I can see why

I was really hoping the iPad would work. That said, I am glad they are giving
me the local access laptop. The desktop computers are rather underpowered. They
merely connect to the company's intranet through the internet, using secure
servers. They are very slow to load the worker's desktop when one logs in. They
have very little internal memory or storage, which is why the laptop is
provided (the office desktop cannot support Jaws.

I would

expect that speech output will be choppy as the voice communications get merged
with all the window activity. When JAWS or WindowEyes is run on both system
and the licensing is correctly recognized, then the remote system will just
send the text to be read or braille to your local machine and not the complete
sound f of the synthesized speech.

2017-04-21 Thread David Chittenden

I would
prefer to avoid the several hundred dollar JFW upgrade cost as my JFW license
is 5 years out-of-date..

Have you thought of other possible options to get your documentation from the

I was really hoping the iPad would work. That said, I am glad they are giving
me the local access laptop. The desktop computers are rather underpowered. They
merely connect to the company's intranet through the internet, using secure
servers. They are very slow to load the worker's desktop when one logs in. They
have very little internal memory or storage, which is why the laptop is
provided (the office desktop cannot support Jaws.

The only real JAWS security snag I ran into was a particular
anti-keylogger package which tagged JAWS as something which steals
keystrokes - which it kind of does. End result was that JAWS couldn't
get any keystrokes and so Windows became inaccessible. Had to uninstall
the anti-keylogger service to fix things and they still haven't figured
out a solution.

then install. I’ve heard of the security issue popping up but I figure it this

Your not working for the university of Otago by any chance are you?

Sounds like the sort of things they’d do.

Mind you they said they don’t know how to setup jaws within the citrix

Good luck and I hope they make things work for you.

the remote access authorization purchased. Once this is done it works quite

Re: Sitrix access

2017-04-20 Thread David Chittenden
Thanks all.

It turns out, the company has two other blind employees. They will not place
JFW on the Citrix do to security concerns. However, the fix is to provide the
blind employee with a laptop which is configured for local access. I then carry
the laptop with me for work. Now, back to Windows 7 after 6 years of Mac and
iOS.

Kind regards,

David Chittenden, MSc, MRCAA

2017-04-19 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Also, unless you are running JAWS on both the remote and local machine, you
can expect that speech output will be choppy as the voice communications
get merged with all the window activity. When JAWS or WindowEyes is run on
both system and the licensing is correctly recognized, then the remote
system will just send the text to be read or braille to your local machine
and not the complete sound f of the synthesized speech.

The only way I know of doing this is with JFW.

Jaws does speak through Citrix receiver but only if (a) a repeater licemse of
jaws which is free is installed on the Citrix server and your jaws license has
the remote access authorization purchased. Once this is done it works quite
well. On the Mac However I don't know of a solution to make a virtual desktop
in Citrix accessible. I can provide more specifics if you need.

Hi David,

I think you've gotten to the same point of stuck that I have have with work.

We use a similar sounding product to this you speak of and again VO wont speak

techs Jaws wont speak through the remote session either..
And as I'm the only one in my work place that uses vo I'm kind of limited.

We did try getting gjaws up and running but it didn't work when it came to the
authorisation key from a USB.
