The following adds proxy configuration for apt in the SDK installation script.
I didn't add any messages, and I'm not sure if it's OK in
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99proxy but at least it should work.

This looks very bad.
How did you install the SDK? Did you follow the instructions
carefully? I recommend to re-install the maemo SDK, there are not many
steps required.

Some applications are closed. AFAIK the filemanager is one example,
another one is the media player.

Unfortunately that documentation is outdated. By the time N900 was
released the audio codecs were not using OpenMAX IL, but that's
irrelevant as the codecs were always meant to run on ARM side.

into scratchbox is v. difficult (I suspect I've completely screwed my
