Title:
  Show full introduction from the profile

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Mahara 15.10+

  When a user wrote an introduction and it is longer than a few
  characters, it is cut off. However, unless the user puts that
  introduction on their profile page, there is no place to see it fully.

  Therefore, when you are on the group members page or on "My friends"
  and "Find friends", it would be good to display the entire
  introduction. If people do tend to write a lot, then maybe we don't
  show the introduction directly on the page but only upon a click on
  it. Or have a link they can click to expand the introduction.

Bug description:

  Can it be made more prominent, e.g. via a pop-up window? Is it

Bug description:
  Reported at

https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=7827=0=10#post33568

  When an LDAP user tries to log in via Mahara Mobile, they can't as
  Mahara requires an internal Mahara password to be set even though it
  will then be ignored as LDAP is used (see error message below).

  When LDAP accounts are set up, they should not require an internal
  Mahara password as it will be ignored since LDAP is going to be used.

  Report:

  My environment:
   Mahara 18.10
   mobile app 1.4.1

  1. Authentication plugin
   The institution has LDAP authentication plugin and Internal auth.

  2. Add user from
  a user is added by admin from "Adimn menu" -> Users -> Add user

  The password can be anythin here, because users use LDAP password on
  login time.

  3. Login
  Though the new user can login from Web interface, hi can not login by mobile
app. At this time, I found server logs below.

  AH01071: Got error 'PHP message: [WAR] 38
  (snip)
  WebserviceException->__construct("passwordchangerequired", "The user needs to
reset their password. They must ...", 403) at

message: [WAR] 38 (module/mobileapi/json/token.php:118) passwordchangerequired

a web browser to do this.\nPHP message: Call stack (most recent first):\nPHP
message:   * log_message("passwordchangerequired : (snip)

  Though the mobile app does not show error messeges, Mahara server
  seems to be requesting user to change password.

  3. change password
  By admin, change authentication plugin from LDAP to Internal, and change
password once. the password can be anythin. The password has to be change
once. Then return authentication plugin from Internal to LDAP.

  4. Login from mobile app
  We can login from mobile app.

  5. Othre solution
  Admin can add user by CSV "Adimn menu" -> Users -> "Add user by CSV". At that
time, Turn off the option "Force password change" option. Then users do not be
required to chage password at first login, so mobile app can login.

Title:
  Remove triggers from Mahara database

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  I've created a forum post to discuss this:

  * https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=8324

  Basically, my reasoning is:

  1. Mahara supports two DB types - MySql and Postgres. Each DB has different
syntax when it comes to creating/updating/deleting triggers. This makes it
complicated to develop and maintain.

  2. Mahara already has the concept of events in place. We can move the
  functionality of each trigger into an event. We would then have more
  control over the event. For example, don't action an event during an
  upgrade.

  3. Triggers make it difficult to see what is actually happening. They
  are not transparent. If you weren't aware that there is a trigger on
  the table, it can make it difficult to track down why something is
  behaving in a certain way.

  We can start slowly by removing one at a time. It doesn't have to happen all
at once.

  Just my thoughts.

  Cheers.

Bug description:
  Hello,

  I use Mahara.18.10.0 on ubuntu 18.10, php7.3, apache2 and Postgres
  10.7.

  When I edit the settings of the page template in the site pages and
  collections's menu, the page template become unavailable.

  More precisely, this bug (i think it's a bug but i'm not sure) append
  when I want to disable the comments in the Share's settings. When I
  save this modification, the page template is no more a template. I
  made a little video to show the bug.

  To correct this problem, I must restore an old version of the database
  (postgresql).

  Is it a bug ?
  Is it a way to disable the comment block in the page template ?

  Thanks,

  Luc

Title:
  Improve efficiency when checking if a table field exists

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  When upgrading we use a field_exists() check to see if a table has a
  certain column or not which is fine there as upgrade chunks are a one-
  time execution run when users are all logged out.

  However we have begun to use field_exists() within other parts of the
  code and so this can get called on every page load by multiple users
  at once. This requires fetching the ddl.lib file and setting ul an
  XMLDB table object and an XMLDB field object which has overhead.

  Instead we should just query the database directly and ask it if the
  table has the column or not

  So instead of doing:

  require_once('ddl.php');
  $table = new XMLDBTable('tablename');
  $field = new XMLDBField('fieldname');
  if (field_exists($table, $field)) {
  ...
  }

  We could just do:

  if (column_exists('tablename', 'fieldname')) {
  ...
  }

  And have the column_exists function that call the database directly

  turned off. Isolation should not force the "open" option to be
  unavailable as only site admins can set up public groups when
  isolation is turned on and they can decide whether the group is to be
  open or not.

Bug description:
  Mahara: 19.04.0
  OS: Linux 16.04
  DB: Postgres
  Browser: FF and Chrome (and others)

  In the Files upload screen (and other screens that display error
  message):

  When a user accidentally clicks on the 'Create folder' icon before
  entering a folder name, a red error message appears:

  "Please provide a name for the new folder."

  When the user enters the folder name and clicks the button again, the folder
is created but the red error message still appears.

  The message is only removed after the user refreshes the page.

  This can be misleading to the user.

  Can you lease clear the message when the folder is created - and
  display a success message?

  Another scenario:

  * The user creates a folder successfully.
  * The user then clicks into the new folder
  * Clicks the 'Create folder' button (in the child folder) without providing a
name
  * The error message then appears
  * Clicks the up arrow to go to the parent folder.
  * The error message still appears - even though the user has moved out of the
child folder.

  Expected, the error message should clear.

  Ideally, all alert messages in danger, warning, success classes should fade
out after perhaps 10 seconds? This should be throughout the entire site not
just the above screens.

https://wiki.mahara.org/wiki/Developer_Area/Specifications_in_Development/Basic_magic_block

  To replicate:

  1. Ensure that users can select their own page themes by activating it in
Admin menu -> Configure site -> Site options -> User settings -> "Users can
choose page themes" to "Yes".
  2. Create a page and open the "Advanced" panel.
  Expected result: The "Theme" drop-down menu is displayed.

Title:
  Skins to support new page header

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Mahara: 19.04.0
  OS: Linux 16.04
  DB: Postgers
  Browser: FF / Chrome

  The skin is not respecting the new pageheader of a page.

  To reproduce - Repeat only horizontally:

  1. Create a new skin (Skin1):
  - Add a Background image (attached)
  - Background image report = Repeat only horizontally
  - Background image attachment = Fixed
  - Background image position = Top
  - Save

  2. Create a new page that uses this new skin (Skin1)
  - Page title = Skin Test
  - Current skin = Skin1
  - Save
  - Add any block to the page (i.e. text)

  3. Display the page
  Results:
  The page header (i.e. page banner at top) is displayed across the entire page
(from right to left) whereas the rest of the page below the banner has the
background image displayed in the right/left margins.

  Expected Result:
  The page header (i.e. page banner at top) should display the background image
in the left/right margin as the rest of the page.

  =

  To reproduce - Repeat Vertically:

  1. Updated Skin1:
  - Background image report = Repeat Vertically
  - Save

  2. Display (refresh) Skin Test page
  Results:
  The page header (i.e. page banner at top) is displayed across the entire page
(from right to left) whereas the rest of the page below the banner has the
background image displayed in the right/left margins.

  At the bottom of the page, the image's bottom is seen in the center of
  the page.

  Expected Result:
  The page header (i.e. page banner at top) should display the background image
in the left/right margin as the rest of the page.

  At the bottom of the page, the image's bottom is seen in the center of
  the page.

  =

  To reproduce - Repeat both directions:

  1. Updated Skin1:
  - Background image report = Repeat both directions
  - Save

  2. Display (refresh) Skin Test page
  Results:
  The page header (i.e. page banner at top) is displayed across the entire page
(from right to left) whereas the rest of the page below the banner has the
background image repeated in the right/left margins and at the bottom of the
page.

  Expected Result:
  The page header (i.e. page banner at top) should display the repeated
background image in the left/right margin as the rest of the page and at the
bottom of the page.

  Warnings can be seen, for example, when you masquerade as a user at
  the top of the screen and also when you created a new user and log in
  as them and you see the "Log in anyway" message.

  The "log in anyway" text (just the link, not the rest of the text)
  needs to be bold as in previous version of Mahara. It's a regression
  that this is not the case anymore.

  The screenshot is from the raw theme. All themes will need to be

Status in Mahara:

Bug description:
  We use the table via a get_user_access_roles() and it involves the
  roles relating to user access rules so we should name the table to
  reflect this.

  This also allows us to add a usr_roles table in the future to allow
  more granular rules for a user, eg can do some site admin options but
  not all

  To test:
  - One should be able to do peer assessment like before and have it work
normally on the front end
  - The usr_roles table should not exist anymore on back end
  - The usr_access_roles table should exist on backend

  This should be tested with:
  - install a new site
  - install a site older than 2018-08-02 then upgrade
  - install a site newer than 2018-08-02 then upgrade

  There is a bug that was introduced with the isolated institution. It
  is ignoring the user message preferences.

  Scenario:

  * User1: set User > Settings > Preferences - 'Messages from other
  users' = 'Allow people on my friends list to send me messages'

  * User2: set User > Settings > Preferences - 'Messages from other
  users' = 'Allow people on my friends list to send me messages'

  * Neither User1 nor User2 are friends of each other

  * The site is not set up as isolated institution
  ($cfg->isolatedinstitutions = false;)

  Log in as User1 and attempt to create a message to User1. Mahara allows the
message to be sent.

  The message displayed to a group member who is not allowed to enter a

  they click on it, it displays they don't have permission to do so.

  To reproduce:
  * Create an institution: Inst1

  * Add user1 with role = member to the group

  * Add admin1 with role admin

  * Log in as user1 and go to group > Journals

  * Display message says: There are no journals in this group. Add one.

  * Click on 'Add one' link

Title:
  Tag cloud invalid font size

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Font size in Tag cloud side block is not generated right. Font size is
generated in lin/mahara.php, line 3985 (function get_my_tags). Code to generate
tag is:
  $t->size = sprintf("%0.1f", $minsize + ($maxsize - $minsize) * $weight);

  Specifier f in sprintf function is local aware so in languages that use comma
as decimal separator (like Croatian language) it will generate invalid value
for HTML font size. Fix is simple, just use non-locale aware specifier:
  $t->size = sprintf("%0.1F", $minsize + ($maxsize - $minsize) * $weight);

  This will always generate decimal number with period as a decimal
  separator.

Title:
   Behat: 2 new roles for assessment work flow Peer assessor and manager

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  BEHAT SCRIPT : Create/Update Script feature file
  ->peer_assessment.feature

  RELATED TO: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/1784781

  SUMMARY:
  A person on Mahara can be assigned the peer, manager or both roles for a
portfolio. This selection gives them additional permissions. The selection of
the roles happens on the “Edit access” screen. The assigned roles are applied
to all selected portfolios as per current Mahara functionality. In order to
select the role, an additional drop-down menu is displayed once a person has
been selected.

  The roles have the following characteristics:
  * The role selector only appears when the portfolio owner searches for
individual users. The roles cannot be given in bulk, e.g. to “Friends” or an
entire group.
  * The role governs view_access, blocktype.

  Peer role:
  * Can fill in the “Peer assessment” block (bug #1784778);
  * Can see page names, page instructions, block titles (but not block content)
on the pages to which they have access to provide contextual information
relevant to the peer assessment they are providing;
  * Is selected during the portfolio sharing process;
  * When used in conjunction with the “Manager” role, this role can see other
content in the portfolio.

  Manager:
  * Is selected during the portfolio sharing process;
  * Can see the entire portfolio (the peer assessment block content once the
peer set it to be viewable);
  * Can mark a portfolio page in the assessment portfolio as verified.

  Note: If the page is also shared with other users, e.g. friends or
  registered users, then the more permissive rights take precedence.
  That means: Friends can see all content on a page. If “Friends” is
  selected to view a portfolio and a friend is specifically selected to
  be a peer, the peer can see all page content.

  A peer can also be a manager. That means that the peer can see all
  block content because the manager role is more permissive.

  REQUIREMENTS:

  1) Peer and Manager can see content and can make an assessment.

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  When you place the "Navigation" block onto a page and select a
  collection that has a SmartEvidence framework associated with it, the
  SmartEvidence overview page is not displayed.

  We do show the SmartEvidence page on "Pages and collections" and thus
  it's hopefully just a small fix.

  To replicate:

  1. Enable SmartEvidence for your institution.
  2. Create a collection as SmartEvidence collection (1 page is sufficient).
  3. Create page 2.
  4. Place the "Navigation" block onto page 2 and select the SmartEvidence
collection.
  Expected result: The SmartEvidence overview page is listed along with the
other page(s) in the collection.

  Actual result: The SmartEvidence overview page is not listed.

Title:
  Syncing LDAP usernames with Mahara's internal username leads to
  incorrect user record matching

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Mahara: 19.04.0
  OS: Linux 16.04
  DB: Postgres
  Browser: FF / Chrome (really n/a)

  The LDAP sync_users() functionality is not correctly matching user
  records - i.e. LDAP username with Mahara username.

  Scenario:

  1. Create an institution with and LDAP authentication
  - Update user info on login = Yes
  - We auto-create users = Yes
  - Sync users automatically via cron job = Yes
  - Update user info in cron = Yes
  - Auto-create users in cron = Yes
  - If a user is no longer present in LDAP = Suspend user's account

  2. Create an XML-RPC authentication with a Moodle for this institution
  - Parent authority = LDAP auth created above
  - SSO direction = Yes
  - Update user info on login = Yes
  - We auto-create users = Yes
  - We import content = Yes

  * The Moodle instance needs to have LDAP set up as well.

  3. Create an internal Mahara user (i.e. not LDAP)
  - username: AAA (make sure this username exists in the LDAP directory)

  * The username 'AAA' needs to be in Moodle created via LDAP.

  4. Login to Moodle with the username AAA - the LDAP user

  5. SSO to Mahara

  This will do the following
  - a new user record is created with username AAA1
  - auth_remote_user table will link Mahara user AAA1 to Moodle user AAA

  6. As Admin, update AAA1's auth method to LDAP.

  7. Logout of Mahara and Moodle.

  8. Run cron so LDAP syncs users

  Expected Results: user AAA1 to remain active in Mahara
  Actual Results: user AAA1 is suspended because it matches on username (i.e.
AAA)

  That is, this join is correct:

  from {usr} u
  inner join {auth_ldap_extusers_temp} e on u.username = e.extusername

  The username in auth_ldap_extusers_temp is: AAA
  The LDAP username in Mahara is: AAA1

  Hence, it will not match on username and think the user is no longer
  in the LDAP directory and suspend the user.

  The join needs to be on another field that is present in both LDAP and
  Mahara.

  We should also join to the auth_remote_user table to get the correct
  external username.

  i.e.

  select
  u.id as id,
  aru.remoteusername as username,
  u.suspendedreason as suspendedreason,
  ...
  from {usr} u
  inner join {auth_remote_user} aru on u.id = aru.localusr
  inner join {auth_ldap_extusers_temp} e on aru.remoteusername = e.extusername

  Since the beginning of Mahara, site admins have always been able to send a
message to any user in the system regardless of the user's notification
settings.

  With the introduction of isolated institutions (in 19.04), this
  capability has been removed.

  It should be re-implemented.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1831689] Re: Datepicker doesnt work with different date formats

Title:
  Datepicker doesnt work with different date formats

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released
Status in Mahara 19.04 series:
  Fix Released
Status in Mahara 19.10 series:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  When a different date format (other than the Mahara default /MM/DD
  HH:mm), the datepicker doesnt work.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Update lang/en.utf8/langconfig.php with the following:

  $string['pieform_calendar_dateformat'] = '%%d/%%m/%%Y';
  $string['pieform_calendar_timeformat'] = '%%l:%%M %%p';

  2. Clear site cache

  3. In the Shared by Me, set 'Allow comments' = Yes

  4. Enter a page to share with a group with an end date selected from
  outside of the current month.

  5. Save and re-enter the page.

  Expected result: Clicking on the 'to' field opens the datepicker
  Actual result: the datepicker doesnt open and error messages are displayed in
the console.

  Steps I've tried to fix:
  -Hard coding the new date format (DD/MM/ h:mm A) into
theme/raw/templates/form/viewacl.tpl:164
  -Adding new code to the library as per
https://github.com/tempusdominus/bootstrap-4/issues/193#issuecomment-465649868
  -Removing the local from theme/raw/templates/form/viewacl.tpl:165
