Well, then. Could that be the one you say you had previously? Otherwise 
can you create one or not? You should be able to use either the one 
that’s there (the naming is only for your own reference) or make a new 
one if that one is for reasons unknown not working for you.


I sent you the research that I found about the app-specific passwords 
disappearing. The rest is up to Apple.

Hey Bill, thank you for all your help. It just wasn't doing what it was 
supposed to. I spent a half hour on the phone screensharing with Apple and we 
got it to work by having me type in my apple ID and password instead of relying 
on touch ID. Voila! She didn't know why it made the difference but it did.
All good now!

It never lets you enter a password of your choice. It GIVES YOU a password it 
has created after you give it a name. The display (on Safari) looks like the 
attached image.

OK, this is what happens. I go to icloud.com and sign in. That all works 
fine with my new password (this is on my macbook). I click on App 
Specific Passwords and it tells me I have none (I know I have created at
