I suggest Theodore Haecker's "Virgil: Father of the West". There's a good chapter there about how Aeneas and Odysseus are quite dissimilar figures. Also (the best part) explains (in ecstasy almost) how Aeneas is in fact most similar to Abraham, the founder of the faith. It's a 1934 book...you'

In our condemnation of Ohio girls (it was not a very funny joke) let's not forget Virginia Fitzpatrick's stated purpose in checking out the site.  I signed up for very similar reasons (trained to teach English, told to teach Classical Societies) and have found the site an invaluable source o
