Dear MI gurus,
One of my client gets data in a tabular format like
Vehicle Id,Date,Lat and Long and Altitude. Here lat
and long is in Degrees, min ,sec like 23, 1 ,0.072 respectively.
I have converted into lat and long accordingly and tried to
create point ( create point option ) based on the

I have a number of polygons, well, over 200 actually. Their names
are featured in the browser in one column and I would like to
update another with an incrementing number, 1,2,3,4,5,6,etc, so
that each polygon has an individual ID ranging from 1 - 237. Is it
possible to do this and

Thanks to Bruce Napier and Laurent Frilleux for your prompt
responses to my problem. Should anyone wish to do this in the
future, these methods work:
1) Just add an extra column (integer) to your table using table -

Dear Listers,
I'm searching for a raster processing tool that could do
an OR operation on two raster images.
Both images are identical size in pixels and are
BW bitmap.
I'd like the software to compare the images pixel by
pixel and make a new image according to OR rule :
black OR black = black

I am looking for additional line styles, geological styles in particular.
Thanks in advance will sum

All will do the job I think. Some are more intricate than others, and it
depends how much control you need to have over the appearance of the final
output. Thanks all for your help. I chose
Try IDRISI. It works great for all kinds of Raster operations and analysis and
has a lot or options for boolean and matimatical operations with images.

Hello MI people!
I know this is a rather elementary query, but I'm a neophyte MI user (and a
mere ecologist, at that!) and I can find no insight in the manuals or
on-line help.
I have data layer of about 650 open space parcels within our city. The

I have 2 tables I need to compare.
Contained in each table are streets names and an associated zoneid.
In theory the 2 tables should contain identical information, but in the real
world that are items in table1 that are not in table2, and vice versa. I
have tried to write query to compare table

The question:
Is it possible to control the order that objects within the same
table are displayed? This is in relation to thematic mapping in

Listers,
I'm sure the nightmare that is text handling in MI layouts has been discussed to
death here. I'm trying to export a layout to .wmf using File/Save Window As.
In Powerpoint, I insert the the .wmf file as a picture. Everything works
perfectly except for a "column" of the image that is

I get the same thing all the time - quite annoying I'd say. I'm not sure
what it is, but I suspect that there is a memory problem whereby it captures
everything up to a certain point and then drops the fill. One workaround
that sometimes works for me is to set up the layout as you want

Several folks commented that this was likely a problem with insufficient video

Sorry if this has been asked before.
Can someone please direct me to a dataset containing general population
figures for the top 1000 or so cities throughout the world. Dosen't have
to be mapable although that would be helpful. I really only need the
city name and the population for now.
Thank
