of translating the Microstation
files without having to pay for Microstation GeoCoordinator for AUD$3100.
Just a simple mdl working in Microstation 95 would be nice.
Thanks.

Thanks to both David and Flavio for their replies. The solution was quite
simple and is available straight out of the box using "Table/Objects combine
using Column".

Sorry listers,
In my last email I gave you the wrong web address for Manifold GIS. It is
www.manifold.net To see the comparison between Manifold and Mapinfo take a
look at : http://www.manifold.net/intro/faster_smarter_home.html

Tim,
Yes I too only heard of Manifold recently and after checking out their web
site www.manifold.com I was very impressed. One thing that seemed to be
missing was the ability to handle georeferenced raster data (such as aerial
photo backgrounds). A quick response from Manifold assured me that
there can shed some light on this perplexing problem I would
certainly like to hear from them.
Thanks.

Hi Ahmet,
Thankyou for your response. The problem is that I cannot see the code come
up in the MBW as I change the style of the selected objects. If I could,
life would be so much easier.

Hello Yvonne,
There is an mbx called Quick Links which costs AU$300 available from
www.mapsys.com.au
It enables you to link other tables, raster images and run Quick View on
programs that are supported by Quikview eg Word, Excel. I found it a bit
limiting in that I wanted to link to a chart in
but no response was
sent back to the list, so
Pauls response, just for the record
Format$((Area(object,"sqm")/1), "#.#") + " ha"
The second parameter to the Format$ statement is a string, and so your
suggested format should be quoted with double quotes. The same
programmer in the Office
environment? ie what sort of a bang do you get for your buck (Au$1500+)
I welcome any response.

it must, if
it is not to become a dinosaur. I guess I have the advantage of looking at
this with naive eyes-I have not learnt Map Basic and to be quite honest, do
not want to spend my valuable time learning something that is obviously
heading for oblivion.

the MapBasic window but I would need to standardise file names as I
do not have the knowledge to set up file request/save dialogs- yet! The
learning curve stretches out before me like the path to Mt.Everest!)
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
