Well the stop lever is limited in travel by the valve cover, the shutoff
is internal to the engine. I suppose I could unhook the linkage and see
what happens. I also wonder if it is because of the amount of fuel I am
delivering.

I guess I now know what the neighbor down the road is going to do.
Out here in the middle of flat land corn country - certainly not with
the vista of this house, but... there is an airplane body (727 size?,
no wings) sitting at the nearby equestrian farm down the road.

Because the drains don't appear to be there does not mean they are
not supposed to be there. They could be plugged up with bondo, or
rustproofing or some other combination of gunk. The bottom of the
door WAS built with drain holes. Door rust generally starts around the drains.

I don't see any any drain holes inside the RF door. The bottom inside
of
the door cavity appears solid.
Shouldn't be, modulo cheap-ass bodywork. Take a hose and fill
the door through the removed door panel. It should empty right
out.

Yeah, it should have age-appropriate tubular steel

I liked the wood.

A good 140 is a fabulous car, though a '94 is not quite the best of the
bunch. I assume at this point the evaporator and head gasket have been
done at least once, but check the records. Also, check the harness.
They fare a little better in an S320, with that small engine in a big
bay, but
Yes IP, sorry. Still don't see how the two can be connected really but
I'll readjust per the manual. When I say slow to shutoff I mean you
kill the switch and it runs through another 5 cylinders worth of fuel.
What I really need is manual trans linkage...
Our too-slow-to-shut-off 240D turned
exposed bare copper. They must have used the same source for both
diesel and gas vehicles.
They did. It was a Federal (Germany) requirement, IIRC, to
use biodegradable insulation in all cars. But in diesels there's
less waste heat, so they don't cook quite so fast.

Does anyone have an opinion on transmission fluid/filter change versus
transmission fluid flush?? I am uncertain of what may be the best course of
action.? I have a 96 e300d that probably would benefit from one of the two and
wanted some thought on which would be the best.?

Kaleb will tell you those things are better than electricity. To be honest,
I haven't seen one of those in heavy use out here, or with anything resembling
high mileage. Think by 04 the injector problems were mostly gone, but am not
positive about that.
Personally, I do not care for them.
