format the C:\ drive and do a clean install of Vista.
When you format the hard drive be sure to choose NTFS file system rather than
FAT, as Vista won't like it formatted as a FAT drive (if it will even work on

working fine in Safe mode) and shonuff the capacitors on the vid card
are almost all blown,

I have a ~1966 vintage Blaupunkt (when they were GOOD radios and
Solid State while Becker still put a large box of tubes under the
dash.) It is standard DIN configuration. It is AM only. I really
liked the old Blaupunkt 3-4 band radios. Very high quality,
AM/FM/SW. They were 1970 or so.
I agree with everything Dan said except that I would load the XP and
run that. If you don't have an XPSP4 disk, it takes a long time to
download and install all the updates. But then you don't have the
Wista crapola. I'd not spend any money on winders 7 until/unless you
know the machine
My only reason for not running XP would be the presence of the dual core
processor. The XP kernel does not have the ability to utilize dual processors,
so it might throttle the machine somewhat.
Otherwise, run XP on it. At least that is relatively stable. We still do it
on over 35,000

when I pulled the head. Also leaked in a couple of other places --
PLEASE use new head bolts when you do a gasket change! The bolts may
not have stretched too much by the book, but the failure rate is
