and not screw up the orientation.Just don't separate the halves.
Unbolt it at the flex disks, unbolt the bearing carrier and drop the
drive shaft as a complete unit. You may have to remove or loosen the
parking break cable if you cannot slide the d/s out around it.

IIRC, Marshall always recommended Driveline Service Co. in Portland,

Are they rebuildable or just don't fail often or what?
Yes, and yes. One of my indies used that Portland
shop on my 560 SL. Worked fine afterwards.

First make sure that's your problem, this is not one of those may as well
deals, too expensive.
I had to remove the whole shaft to find that I did indeed have a bad bearing
on my 85 300TD.
I bought a used one from sa...@silverstarrecyling.com for $125 plus $50
shipping. They just taped it
.
That's 3 u-joints, so yours should be cheaper.

I may have a complete prop shaft for a W123 240D automatic.
I know I've got the diff and both axles.

There is an outfit in California that will rebuild them for $700 or so.
Get a used one, they run about $100. The joint CAN be replaced, but you need
the proper jig to strake it in place and you have to find someone who can
try to replace it yourself -- BTDT, it shakes like crazy.
