All that happened before the EPA, so it wasn't deadly then. No government
specialist came to tell you that you were going to die from it, so you
didn't.
After all, you drove to work in the body shop to spread lead all day in a

What about all those who soldered the pont-to-point wired chassis for
radios and TVs back in the day when they all glowed in the dark? I know I
did my share with Heath Kits, an HH Scott amp, and my home brewed ham radio
transmitter and amp.

The Frankenheap (W115) has (had?) a column shifter _and_ a floor shifter.
Somebody converted it to floor, it was built as a column shifter.

Many of the W110s were on the column. Floor shifters were an option on most
models and fairly rare.

My '70 220D had the four speed shifter on the column, as did the 1966 220
finnie that I drove once.

PLUGS. NEW REAR SHOCKS. STARTS RIGHT UP AND GOES.
Is it really a manual? Shifter is on the steering column, which I don't
think I've seen much in MB mannys. Can't see whether it has a clutch
pedal in the photos posted.

There was an episode of "Monster Garage" back in the early 2000s where they
built a "lead sled", chopped and dropped. The old guy doing the leading was
fantastic, torch in one hand, lead bar in the other, big old stogie in his
mouth...

That’s one thing - the metal on these oldsters is substantial enough that if
it’s intact it can be reworked.
I really like watching someone do “leading”, a REAL man’s body filler.

I looked at the crunched fender. Without a doubt, I could restore that
fender. It would require using the right application of skill and
experience, as well as hammer, dollies, and my english wheels. But, the
metal is good, it will take being moved back to where it should be.

Depends on whether you're after a perfect restoration, or just something
that's presentable and functional.
I don't think W110s will ever be worth a lot. I like them for their
utilitarian simplicity but for most people, they just aren't that
special.

I still feel that one of these is not worth the investment unless it's
already a 95% car.
