yup.   While our old MBs can run on up to 50% Benzin, it is not recommended, except in extremely cold situations.  LIke -30 to -40 ºF.   A JD, cat,  or Perkins (MF or marine or other) or Allis chalmers of the same vintage would blow the head off. G Mann via Mercedes wrote on 3/11/20 3:20 PM:

I'll never try that one. But I'll do it with Diesel any time. OK Don via Mercedes March 10, 2020 at 10:52 PM I forgot - you can fill a can with gasoline and drop a match in and it'll go out - Dad proved that point once. Liquid fuels need to vaporize to burn.

Right, and the wood acts as a wick.   But if you throw a lit match in a pool of Diesel, the match goes out.   Unless there is some heat (or pressure) to vaporize the diesel.   Oil burners atomize the fuel under pressure,  then it burns. Diesel engines inject atomized fuel under high heat and pr

Kerosene isn't a ton more volatile than diesel but I'll agree with you that it is more volatile. I've tried to burn diesel in a lantern before, it'll work but it needs a ton of preheat, like 2-3x as much as kerosene does. Kero requires about 5x more preheat than gasoline/white gas. I've cleaned
