Were it me, I'd put a standard 220V welder socket in the garage (or wherever), Buy the mating plug, and a suitable length of cable, and replace the cord on the welder with it. Buy a second socket and a drop box, and use the welder's original cable to make a 110->220 adapter, so you can continue

You don't want anything in the way of working on the plumbing. 2' in front of the pump, and 2' over it, sounds a bit close. Also, you don't want the electrics in the path of any leak that might spring up and spray the area. Pressure switches should cut out when the pressure gets too low, too.

He said the CA stuff was really nice for tight cracks, as it would wick into the crack pretty deeply without having to drill it, which he did some times. If the crack was tight without any leads I would drill it and use one of the little “injectors” to make sure it got into the crack as deeply

Good to know, I think I probably knew that but forget to consider that aspect. With GG you need to have some moisture, wet one side of the joint, which activates the glue and it tends to fizz up a bit. CA does pretty well on wood. Or just Titebond II if you can get it in there far enough.

Use a good wood glue (or some super glue or gorilla glue injected in the crack), clamp it as you can and the repair will be stronger than the wood. But you know that. Looks like it is cracking along the grain that runs diagonally there, from the mortise for the mechanism, maybe as it dried
