Had something similar in my Mums 190E, the brake sensor had partially
come out of it's hole and there was still a good 1/3 of the pad left
when the light came on...
Next time you're driving, look down to see if your left foot is on the
brake pedal.
It WAS the switch reset. I now remember having to reset that once
before but it had totally slipped my mind. A quick push in of the
switch (why do they make that so thin and needle-like?)

Braked down from 60 mph at a stop sign this morning coming back from
an eye appointment. Car stopped as it normally would but the brake
