Thanks Ernest, the chart is very helpful! The SG does seem to have the
numbers in all the right places. A couple of people have also mentioned oil
from the Harley dealer is good, but I haven't seen any of their numbers. I
can put a bit of extra faith in what they're doing for BMW oil though,
There are, but over the years, I've had so little trust in fixes that come

Zinc stearate to lubricate under heat and load. Serves the same
purpose as class IV synthetic, except that when it burns in the
cylinder it makes zinc oxide, a fairly nice polishing compound to
remove the crosshatching and round off the valve seats.

Larry,
Are you still offering a discount on your 3-pack or 4-pack of oil

compression ignition?
Thanks,

My 89 300TE does this as well but only when hot (around the 100 mark)
and 1bar at operating temp (just above 80).
Seeing this is a high K motor (380K klicks) I am not surprised and I may
go to higher viscosity oil before next summer.

It should drop to at least half on the gauge at hot idle. Or, just keep
driving it, whatever. It will be gone in a couple of weeks anyway.

I don't think that is correct. At least from the experience of Peter (who has
the same car with the same kind of oil). So, I think it might just be the M104
holds better oil pressure with the 15-40 in it.
I don't know if the M104 is new enough to qualify, but newer engines
do call for lighter oil. If you're running 15W40 in an engine that's
designed for 5W20 it will show high pressure.
