If you DID have a basement that stayed dry, I would be madly envious.

Best way to do a basement there would be to get a pre-cast septic tank
(new obviously) with a big door in the top. Coat it with something, like a
rubberized something, then wrap it in sheet plastic gluin
. Pretty sure I never want that to happen to anything I own...

I heard from a colleague about a contractor who built a house with a
basement here in the low country, it is his personal residence. He poured
the concrete basement (one layer of concrete), then built a suspended form
inside that basement to pour another basement; so he had a double layer
It is claimed that one could have a basement here in FL, but I would be darned
sure I had a very reliable power and pump source for the sump.

No damage here just 16-20" rain at our coordinates. Crazy. Roads closed and
flooded everywhere though, not sure if we can even get off the island right
now. Not sure where we would go if we could. It's getting bad midstate now too,
flooding very bad up there.

Boone Hall recorded 24" rainfall as of this morning since Friday, looks
like it has been raining in your (and that) area most of the day. Just
started here again, hard, and the tide is the highest I have seen it on
the estancia, even higher than yesterday. I just got back from the
store, the

The local shoe repair guy does everything from resoling shoes to replacing
zippers
in coats, I bet he
Glad to hear you survived. We did have just a couple flickers of the lights,
but SWMBO didn't notice, nothing that would make the news.
Drove around Mt Pleasant a bit this p.m., saw a few houses in low areas that
had water at the foundation but nothing inside the first floor. Big local

various places, ground is so saturated they just pull up roots and fall

Aye, if Coach can't handle it, look for a shoe repair shop, they've got the
heavy duty sewing machines to handle leather.

Well we have had about 8" of global cooling here in the last day or so,
the HEAVIEST rain is expected tonight! Charleston is closed off to the
outside world, people are kayaking in the streets. I'm not even sure we
could get off this island now as the roads seem to be flooded
everywhere. We

Interesting. Perhaps the science isn't settled after all, and all the
so-called "deniers" have good reason to be sceptical. Hooray, I'm not a nut

Let me know if I needed to come get you with my sail boat.
Hope the water doesn't get too much higher for you, I think your proximity to
the ocean means the water can drain off quickly.
We've got a couple inches in the low parts of our backyard, which is a drainage
easement to the pond about
