Though baby powder will collect moisture and dirt. MB sunroof lube will not. Buy it from Rusty in the metal tin, it'll last you for a lifetime. I also use it to lube the gears in my 126 odometer after installing new gears. Luther andrew strasfogel wrote: Baby powder is a great

If you're a purist, OK. But you can't gloop it on - you have to remove the panels and apply it carefully, unlike the carefree baby powder dusting prescribed as a pragmatic solution. On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 6:43 PM, Luther benz-n-h...@gulseth.net wrote: Though baby powder will collect moisture

Would graphite be an alternative to the baby powder that wouldn't absorb moisture? IIRC, removing those rear panels to access the rear widow mechanisms are not an easy job. Several trim pieces to be removed, after taking the rear seat completely out. On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 10:15 PM, andrew

Indeed, the door checks are quite massive. But I imagine that's fitting for the length and weight of the doors. And for the price, those damned regulators better be an improvement over the POS W108/W123 things. Incidentally, is it reasonable to conclude that 107 door hinge pins are not

Replace the window channels. They are worn and too large, allowing the window to cock in the channel. This will definitely hasten the death of the regulator, which is an absolute certainty anyway, they are REALLY flimsy. Some dry silicone lubricant in the channel will help, but not much.

The door regulators are pretty robust. Pull the panel. Snap clips at rear and bottom, screw in the armrest. then bunp up on the bottom of the door liner to get it loose. check to see that the guide on the front of the window is riding on the front slide correctly. check the rear guide.
