This is a good tip from Trampas. If the alternator light doesn't come on
befire you crank the engine, the light is unreliable. In other words, it may
not light when the alternator stops charging. Don't ask how I know.

I am with Kaleb on this one, you should try tow starting. The other option
which I have done is use 24V on the starter. I do not recommend this unless

Just make sure to remove all the tiny particles. VDO was taken
My suggestion is as follows, pull vehicle to top of large hill ending
in abrupt cliff.
While inside vehicle have helper give vehicle solid shove to start down hill.
At speed attempt to engage engine.
Should that fail, attempt to engage brakes.
Should both fail you will not need to worry about

I push started cars before, using an old tire tied off in the trunk so it
hangs over the rear bumper. As long as the bumper height of the vehicles is
within a few inches, this works good. If you don't trust the brakes at all,
tie a sling or rope from the pusher to the pushee.

Has anyone suggested a squirt of oil in each cylinder to help seal the rings
and putting 24 volts to the starter? Briefly, of course, so you don't burn
up the starter but that will surely make it spin faster. I've never tried
it on a diesel but it works wonders for old worn out Chebby
