Oil at 75F is thinner than oil at -10F, but I guess you are referring to when oil gets very thin, lets say at 220F? 210-220deg is just fine. And I'm not talking synthetic, either. RLE

I was wondering if someone with a working EPC could look up the datacard for my 300D and check the tranny number. The chassis # is 12313312011366. The installed trans # is 722.315 02 218843. I suspect it has been rebuilt at some point; just curious if it is the original 'box or an exchange.

I am with Kaleb on this one, you should try tow starting. The other option which I have done is use 24V on the starter. I do not recommend this unless you know how to disconnect all the electrical system except the starter. Basically the rings have taken a set in the pistons and the engine does

Replace the window seals to make sure the silly thing is water tight. Look down below carpet and carpet pad behind the seats to make sure no rust - it loves to form there. Leaks in the trunk usually are tail light gasket. Subframe was defective resulting in cracking, MB was still honoring recall

There is a write-up somewhere in the archives. Commonly the failure is due to one of the 2 hard rubber drive gears crumbling. They are a double gears, small gear should be 12 teeth, large gear is 60. When replaced, all is well again. Just make sure to remove all the tiny particles. VDO was taken

My suggestion is as follows, pull vehicle to top of large hill ending in abrupt cliff. While inside vehicle have helper give vehicle solid shove to start down hill. At speed attempt to engage engine. Should that fail, attempt to engage brakes. Should both fail you will not need to worry about

Has anyone suggested a squirt of oil in each cylinder to help seal the rings and putting 24 volts to the starter? Briefly, of course, so you don't burn up the starter but that will surely make it spin faster. I've never tried it on a diesel but it works wonders for old worn out Chebby
