I looked more close at the oil yesterday and it really seems MUCH thinner than it should be and it seems to have a diesel smell, but hard to tell. I started it up again stone cold and it fires right up, and runs MUCH smoother than when warmed up. Idles ok with just a little bit of a miss.

If the floor pan vibrates most strongly at the center bearing mount (rear of driver's seat), it's the joint. Sounds a lot like a bad muffler. It can only be replaced by someone with the proper tooling ($600 or so, but you get a nice greaseable joint). Best bet is a replacement shaft, any

It's on the rear of the IP, brown with blue stripe vac line. Yes, use the MitiVac -- must hold vac indefinitely when applied, and it should shut the car off in a pump or two. Watch for slow leakdown -- they get pinholes and you will shortly go from slow to no shutoff. Check the line for oil

Broken ball pin in #1 will do strange things for running, pull the injector and check to see if it's in place. Poopy injector shouldn't cause fuel dilution of the amount you describe, more like a couple precent, as it evaporates to a large extent. Peter

Kevin,while the 2.6 is a 6 cylinder gas, the 2.3 is a 4 cylinder gas engine. The 2.6 is shoehorned in and is hard to work on and not much faster than the 4 cylinder model. The early 190D is economical but not much faster than a W123 240D. If I can be of any help out here in the Palm Springs
