Gas really is better today - it is formulated differently, with less highly volatile components that used to evaporate off very quickly. The plus side is that gas is much more stable than it used to be can store longer. The negative side is that carbureted engines really depended on those

Sta-bil reduces the evaporation a bit, I think, but it mostly prevents the chemical reactions in the presence of brass that produce non-burnable high molecular weight materials from collecting. It won't keep the gas in prefect shape, though. Peter ___
