The Federal Government is not trying to stop you. They are trying to manage one nationwide emission standard and one mileage standard. Why? Because allowing California to implement its own standard opens the door for other states to do the same. And cars are mass produced like anything else.

[MBZ] NC cities getting rid of red light cameras

Seems it was all about grabbing money, not about safety. (why am I not surprised) When the N.C. Supreme court pointed out that all such traffic fines were to go directly to schools, not to the coffers of crooked city governments, the cities suddenly didn't want to pay for the red light
