I don't know of a mechanism that would cause the system to lose prime
when hot but then regain prime after it cooled off. That's not to say
that it doesn't exist, but I'd love to hear how that works.

pane type to reduce noise and heat/cold. But I don't believe the windshield

The good thing about Diesels is they will keep running as long as they are
getting air and fuel. As far as it being locked up - if it had locked up
when in gear you'd have noticed - it would have tried to slow you down *BIG*
time. It likely would not have occurred slowly - an engine locking

compressor partially seize and the engine stalled while idling. It was hard
to start since the AC clutch was still engaged, but it ran OK once it

What about the AC and PS belts? They are the easiest ones since they can be
loosened from the top. Don't give up until you loosen them and check their
pulleys. If they turn, the engine is finito.
