Folks
I've been struggling with a no start condition for a month or two.
My car will only start with a shot of ether. Glow plugs and system
are good. I've been too lazy to adjust
I thought all of the US military planes prior to the F16 had that setup, and
that a good giveaway to not having that arrangement was having the stick
located other than front-and-center with respect to the pilot...

I've used (in the past) either a strong magnetic retriever, or a piece of very
stiff steel wire with a small L bent on the end (insert through the hole and
tug)

Ether is a really bad idea for any indirect injection engine.
But for a direct injection it is not only okay, but on some
engines there is a built-in ether delivery system.
