Well, the rail has some play at the top, so I'm convinced that the right thing to do is replace it. Failure of this rail would probably destroy the engine. Does anyone have the locking tool for the starter ring gear? I need that to secure the crankshaft so I can remove the crank balancer.

I'm still not 100 % that's the problem because it did shut down once on boot up with the drive unhooked. Now with this vista when I start it up I can get on the inernet. After a few minutes it won't load a web page but still sends and receives email. What's the deal with that? I hate vista.

Hit fleabay and snag a cheap chinese case. I hate wasting cash and have had great success with these things. Pay maybe $5 and get it shipped in a week or so. I have a dozen housing all sorts of old drives I keep my pr0n on. Nothing like 40 gig of various hackintosh distros or linux.
