Brake squeal can also be caused by glazed pads due to incorrect driving.
This is a particular problem with lady drivers who always gently apply
brakes, like my Mum. If a couple of hard braking stops don't cure the squeal
then it may need some brake grease.

The magic goo goes between the back of the pads & caliper & helps dampen
the vibration. Your local discount parts store usually has small packs
for sale on the counter for less than $1.00 each. Just ask for the brake
anti-squeal

IIRC, the switch is held on by three screws -- I think I used one of
those small right angle racheting screw drivers, but it was a few
years ago --- I did not have to do anything to the tumbler assembly.
Make sure that the vacuum lines are still attached when you're done -

The only failure I've had with a Mac in the last ten years was a couple
of hard drives and one ATX style power supply. Not what I can say for
most if not all PC's I've used -- several dead boards, etc.
Macs are top of the line, more like HP than Dell.
